Well, the simple answer is no - Pheros do not do it like in the movies.
However, they do work with your own natural phero sig, personality, personal projection and body language and in combination, that’s what gets the results.
Some say 90% you 10% pheros and in some situations that is about the case - In others the pheros may have a bit more influence but broadly, you will still need to do most of the work.
That said - Am I convinced of their effectiveness? - Hell yes! 
I came to pheros after a long slow climb-back from rock bottom after a failed relationship and yes I had worked on a whole lot of other aspects of myself but taking-up pheros was IMO the catalyst that helped everything coalesce and start working reliably and regularly.
You will find products here that will cover the whole range of your interests - the Newbie Pheromone Kit will more or less introduce you to all the main phero groupings, broadly - sexual, social and status, at a decent discount on all the individual products (you can use the GC too).
But if you want to try individual products, I suggest the following:
Ammo - Social/sexy/masculine. A balanced attraction mix of the three main pheros.
Instant Shine - Happy/feelgood and socially confident. Great on its own but combines superbly for one of the best attraction mixes there is.
IO and IH - Social products based on nols. IO (mainly alphanol) promotes flowing conversation). IH (mainly betanol) promotes bonding and deeper conversation/trust - A good one for work.
IG - Light smooth/suave status. Great for making a smart impression at work or play.
A314 - Very high status/trust. Conveys classic masculine and professional values - superb for projecting a very competent, capable and trustworthy vibe at work. Can be a bit severe/daunting in dating but is steerable with other pheros for a very mature and unashamedly sexual vibe that goes down very well with more mature women. Younger ones can find it a bit daunting or even “dad-like”.
