Help, my MX-135 smells like...

I just got a new bottle of MX-135. It smells totally different than my tester. It’s a little acrid, in a “did the cat pee on this shirt before I ran it through the dryer? or am I just imagining something?” way, where the tester was overpoweringly sweet, and sorta coconutty. Burnt chocolatini…chocolate pee-ni… Has anyone else had this experience? Did I just get a tester that had an unusual scent? I fear it will need a cover scent.

Edited to add: not quite so obnoxious after dry down, and on the plus side, it doesn’t make me sneeze like the tester did.

They might be having another shortage on the chocolatini scent. I remember when I got my first tester of mx135 it kind of smelled like popurri or cheap air freshener, but my next one smelled like actual chocolate is supposed to smell, even though my friend still says it smells like rotten chocolate, and in the warmer weather the scent gets kind of musty on me too (though I’m pretty sure it’s just me b/c people don’t say I stink when I ask), don’t really know how to describe it. I love this mix but sometimes I wish it came in neroli or something :frowning:

Neither of mine have smelled like actual chocolate…ah, a mystery. I’ve stopped looking over my shoulder for the source of cat pee, 20 minutes later, so maybe it’s just the wet molecules that smell bad.

I’ve got 2 or 3 things in chocolatini, including MX135. It’s not coconutty at all, although androtics does have a coconut scent option too (but MX135 only comes in chocolatini so I’m mystified by your bottle, lol).

chocolatini is chocolate, amaretto, boozy, pretty intense, diffusive, sweet. Not burnt, like Pink Sugar smells burnt. There’s nothing in this world that would “cover” chocolatini, I fear! Though other gourmandy perfumes would blend with it and maybe steer it in a slightly different direction.

Possibly your new bottle was freshly mixed and so the scent needed a few more days to calm down a bit? Fragrances do evolve and mellow in the bottle some over time …

I’m surmising that the heavy dose of multiple pheromones (kitchen sink blend is the phrase I’ve heard used!) NEEDED a big time scent to cover it, thus the choice of chocolatini. I don’t get any phero-bleedthrough at all in MX135 like I do with some of the neroli scented products.

Carrie is right. I noticed it with mine as well. Leave it in a cool dark place for a couple days so it can blend and cure a bit and it should be fine.

Its popular so they are making those fast and shipping them right out so they dont have time to cure at androtics.

I just got some, and can’t smell the Choc at all-- which is fine!

The neroli is SOOO nice! Yeah, pity it isn’t that.

Would Chocolovers or Serendipitous 3 cover it, for women?

Thanks Tisha, will do. I can try out my Instant Shine in the meantime.

How do you “cure” the scent? Do you just leave it alone for a few days in a cool place or should you shake/mix it up, too?

Just leave it in a cool dark place. I didnt need to shake mine.

Thanks, Tisha! I’m new to the site and have been perusing different topics and you are very knowledgeable. I got referred via google to your “Women’s Pheromone Guide.” IT’S AMAZING!!! THANK YOU!

My 'scent’iments exactly! I had a horrible time with this smell. There is one of my threads somewhere around here about it. Anyway, nothing covers it all. It overpowers absolutely everything and does not smell like chocolate, perhaps a little bit but smells like a mixture with something else. I also was hoping they would make this with Neroli. It’s a total bummer because I ended up having to send it back and really wanted to use this product. :frowning:

I’m not sure how to insert this link but you can do a search for this for more info. Stinky Stinky Chocolatini!

I will mention this to Jasmin and see if she can check and see if all is going alright with the scent for this one. Chocolitini should be a dark chocolate almond smell. Its sort of reminds me of bakers chocolate with a bit more sweetness to it.

Tisha

For me, I believe it is just personal preference, not anything wrong with the product itself. And now that you mentioned it, the almond might be the mix I smell except that it has this weird sweet smell. Who knows? I’m just going to start praying for Neroli MX135.

Chocolatini has a very boozy sweet almond liqueur smell … with chocolate. It’s not a straight chocolate by any means.

Great description of it. Thats exactly how mine smells. The scent is growning on me even though I wasnt a huge fan of it at first. I still sneeze everytime I put it on, my nose really reacts to it. But the results are too good to let that satnd i my way

I get a strong amaretto note from it, too.

My latest full size bottle is missing that boozy amaretto smell. Much closer to sweaty cocoa dusted feet in scent unfortunately. I fondly remember my sweet amaretto chocolatini to go whenever I apply the new bottle. Letting the bottle cure, shaking and hoping hasn’t fixed my issue with it. I am still thinking I will have to doctor the scent before I can be fully happy with it.

Dang - just ordered the BIG DADDY bottle because I love the smell (and hits) so much!

ink, does it smell like Cookie scent? you mention cocoa which puts me in mind of Cookie, but maybe not, since it has that delectable sweaty feet note :open_mouth:

Hi Carrie

No I have cookie too. Both smell similar to me but cookie definitely has a butter/vanilla to it that mx135 doesn’t. On my skin cookie scent has no staying power.

The mx135 to go I have smells much sweeter with heavy amaretto, my full size is not sweet has very light if any amaretto and easily detectable pheromones. On my skin it turns a little rank.

I do have chocolatini instant openness and they match perfectly so it leaves me assuming my nose & chemistry are the problem but I didn’t have these issues with the to go size either.

Even though it smells somehow off to me it is effective as ever.
