Hello everyone! I’m an eighteen-year-old college student from Phoenix, AZ. I’ve done quite a bit of research on pheromones but haven’t really considered purchasing any until now.
I’ve always been somewhat skeptical about pheromones, expecially the ones available on this site. However, I like the idea of getting a $10 gift certificate just for saying “hi”, because with that money I can try out one of the “TO GO” bottles practically for free (I’ve got my interest towards Instant Shine).
Anyhow, just dropping by to say hello; I can’t wait to try out these products!
Hey there, Psythik! Welcome to our forum. Thanks for your introduction… I’ll send along your gift certificate.
Sigma isn’t kidding - Instant Shine really is a goodie. It’s one of my favorites, and I’m sure you’ll like it.
I’m wondering why you said you were “especially” skeptical of our products?
Is it because we name most things after the effect produced, and not some sort of sexual innuendo? That’s the #1 thing I hear about our site – “Why all the weird names like Honesty and Shine??”
A lot of people expect all pheromones to be sexual. That’s what they hear about in the media and in stories (TV shows are notorious for portraying pheromones as “instant sex juice”). Even the bulk of university studies are guilty of ONLY looking for a sexual effect (researchers with minds in the gutter?). While we’ve studied almost a hundred molecules over the years, we’ve seen only a few directly sexual ones. That’s why only a few of our products imply a sexual connection. Pheromones do far, far more than what people have traditionally been told.
I suppose in a roundabout way, everything is has a sexual connection of some sort. Guys on the prowl buy nice clothing, nice cars, and nice shoes, figuring they’ll help. You know, they may indeed help, but if a seller called a pair of shoes “Sexual Attractant Shoes” or a shirt “The Shirt of Eros” you’d look at him funny, wouldn’t you? Many names of pheromone products just aren’t accurate. They don’t tell the whole story.
We, personally, don’t feel right overemphasizing a sexual connection (“you’ll have three girls humping you a day, automatically!”) to products that may just be made for a friendly or even happy/buzz-like effect.
With the exception of our colognes (like PheroGame and Akuto) where we take more poetic license (because scents are poetry in a way) and A314 which was named after an internal mix code, most of our product descriptions and names come right out the mouths of our testers. Some of their words are more catchy than others, of course. Someone said “I felt like I was shining like a star” to describe an early test version of what was to become Instant Shine. The word “Shine” seemed to nicely sum up what many other testers were saying, so that word became the product name.
Some words understate. Instant Honesty may also create a sort of emotional intimacy or at least a long lost friend type effect, but we didn’t want words like that on the bottle. People would feel embarassed. “Honesty” was a useful compromise.
We feel that simple names that describe one of the main effects will help to make pheromones into an actual influence technology that can be used with precision. A well designed Japanese katana is mightier than a stick!
Thank you for the insightful and intelligent response, Jasmin. You’re right, the straightforward names of your products are what have thrown me off and made me just a little bit skeptical. It’s human nature to not believe in the “it’s just that easy” factor; we tend to not have faith in something simple that claims to do so much.
Anyhow, what it comes down to is the fact that I need to let the product do all the talking, and then I can judge it. However there are two problems at the moment: first thing is that I didn’t seem to get the $10 certificate. The SmartMones site says that I currently have 500 points (which equals $5, right?), but that’s what came with my account when I signed up. Therefore, shouldn’t I have 1500 points now? Secondly, Instant Shine TO GO seems to be out of stock at the moment; any word on when you’ll have more?
Heh, that’s funny; within ten minutes of posting my last message I recieved my gift certificate in my inbox.
Oh and by the way, I start a new job on monday, so I figured a little Alpha A314 would do the trick; however I’m a little strapped for cash right now so I can’t afford the steep price tag at the moment. Looks like my only options right now are among Instant Jerk, AMMUNITION, Instant Honesty, and Instant Openess (all the other TO GO products are sold out at the moment). From that combonation, what would be the best for a good first impression in the work enviroment? I figure if I order tonight, I’ll receive it by monday or tuesday.
Yeah, I think we’ve put SO much work into “making a better mousetrap”, that we’ve sort of dug ourselves into a corner and it’s working against us. The products might work great (and they do for most people here), but to a newbie who’s never seen this stuff before, I can imagine how it must sound … like we’re bunch of self-deluded crazies or aliens or something. But we’re not! We’re just normal people who’ve worked really hard to create something new.
It also seems too unreal that a product can say, increase honesty, when everyone else is selling pheromones as a replacement for roofies or sneaking Everclear into the punch at a frat party.
Think about the product name “DateMate”. When you say it aloud, does it remind you something else? It sure reminds me of something, and it upsets me. I think that’s pretty low for them to make that kind of association. Influence and persuasion are great things to have, but unwelcome force is not.
I also think we (as people in general) also think that lying about sex effects is okay. We’re lied to about sexual connections of products every time we turn on the TV, or read a magzine. They use sex to sell everything, so we’re almost immune to it. We think it’s “okay”, only because we’ve seen it a million times. In the part of psychology that deals with influence, it’s called the MEE (Mere Exposure Effect) effect. Something you see enough, you start to accept it and even like it.
Talking about increasing honesty… or trust & respect… or what have you. You don’t see it often. If anything, there’s the “Not Enough Exposure” effect, the “I’m not familiar with that” effect, or the “That’s so different and weird, I think you’re a nut!” effect. It all almost seems like we’re in the wrong, when in reality, it’s just us striving to be as honest and accurate as possible.
Okay, the points and the gift certs are different things.
The 500 points is an additional bonus you get, for another promotion we’ve been running. New customers automatically have been automatically getting those when they make an account with our shopping cart. (with the intro gift certs, we’re going to fade these out soon – you just caught the tail end of it!)
The points you get at our store are just like what you get on an Airline credit card, except that we give you 10 points for every dollar you spend instead of 1. We’re more like a good airline like Virgin, Delta, Southwest or JetBlue… one generous with their affections.
I went ahead and fixed your gift cert for you. We just changed to a $15 gift cert, so that’s what I just sent. Combined with your 500 points (worth a penny a point, or $5.00), you actually have $20 total free to spend now at the store. Pretty cool, huh?
More Instant ShineTo Go won’t be made until we’re open again on Monday (we use the Japanese JIT manufacturing principle to keep everything as fresh and cutting edge as possible). There’s not much harm in me adding some to the cart now, though, so I’ll go ahead and do so.
By the way, the only other problem we have is what pickup artist’s (of all people) have called “male pattern blindness”.
Men don’t have an easy time spotting social behavior, so even if drastically different things are happening with pheromones, they might not see it well. Not quickly, anyway. It can take time to develop the social awareness necessary to really appreciate these products. Once you, you’ll notice a big difference between when you wear them and when you don’t.
We women don’t have to worry. We know what a pheromone product to people in just a day or two. You’ll almost never notice a woman saying “I can’t get this to work”, or “I don’t know what this does.” We’re social animals… that’s why we eat you GUYS alive at bars and clubs! Rawwwr!
Probably one of the best things you can do to better your social life (with or without pheromones), is to encourage one of your female buddies to be your “social pivot”. That’s a person that goes out with you socially to help you become more socially aware, and to help you work crowds, meet women, etc.
Most women will see tons of things you won’t. A good female friend you can let in on your social experiments is invaluable to you. It’s also a lot of fun for them, because we love seeing social effects. Some of us, as you probably well know, also love playing games when we’re out meeting people. It’s something in our blood! (maybe we’re related to cats after all?)
We’re not open on weekends, and no shipping companies ship on weekends. Not without big money, anyway. The earliest you could get a package from us, at reasonable cost, would be Wednesday if you choose 2-day FedEx.
What you might want to do is pickup a Liquid Sunshine pack, which is based on Instant Shine. Then add something else to bump your order total over $30. This weeks forum member freebies include 2 experimental versions of A314 in the To Go format.
If you do that, you’ll get a TON of things to try, and they’ll be on opposite ends of the spectrum. It’ll be good for you to experience those contrasting “pheromone moods”.
Most of the Liquid Sunshine mixes are all laughs and good feelings. Most of the mixes will increase your approachability, if you want that.
A314, on the other hand, is much more serious and high status. It’s more like being a seargent than an officer. More like a manager than an employee. You get respect, but you’re not going to “mingle” as well as you would with something friendlier.
uhh, i dont know about the other gals, but i want a Shirt of Eros and Sexual Attractant Shoes. first, you cant have too many shoes; second, who needs a push-up if your wearing THE shirt of eros??!!
Jasmin your a genius.
Ok, I just sent in my order in for the Liquid Sunshine pack as well as the experemental A314 To Go and Instant Openess To Go (I decided not to try out Instant Female Magic this time around). I can’t wait to try everything out!
I haven’t received the tracking number yet for my order. My guess is that you guys are closed this thanksgiving weekend, but If I don’t receive the confirmation by monday or tuesday then I’m gonna start worrying…
In my case, there is a tracking number (USPS), but it does not appear in the USPS site although it has been 5 days today from the shipping date. I guess USPS is quite slow in recording the number, but I hope I will receive my orders this week.
