How do you like the name "Smart Pheromones"?

Or SmartMones.com?

I’m not sure if we’re really newbie friendly. People who “know better” love us, but the ones that don’t seem more likely to buy from one of those scam websites.

Now, I know most people initially looking for pheromones think of it as something like “instant sex juice”, which, of course, is not what pheromones really are.

It may not be accurate, but that’s probably what most people are looking for when they type the word “pheromone” into a search engine for the first time, nonetheless.

Pheromone means something to completely newbies that it doesn’t to long time pheromone users.

Even though the design of our products has been called “smart”, perhaps the image of a brain (what most people see when they think “smart”) along with pheromones isn’t correct.

I just figured that because the products were well designed and easy to use, the name would work ok.

If I really think about it, though, “smart” products don’t succeed. Smart Phones are flops, and so are most other “Smart” products I know of. I don’t even know anybody with a smart oven, smart fridge, or smart home.

Glaceau has at least two product lines, SmartWater and Vitamin Water. I think Vitamin Water sells better.

What do you guys think?

If the ideal pheromone shop existed for both newbies and those “in the know”, what would it be called? What would the name imply?

CustomMones? (or CustomPheromones)

Pheromones4U?

Pheromones 'R us???

I think Smartmones.com sounds good to me…but I’ll throw in a couple ideas if thats what ur looking for.

PheromonalAttraction.com
Attractivemones.com
magneticmones.com

I think we have those for our custom service.

This is you saying to “dumb it down”, right? (I’m serious about the question, too)

Toys R Us would shoot us for using Anything 'R Us. They’re sue happy for ‘R Us’, and actually win through some not so straightforward legal theories.

When I think of ‘Smart Mones’ I think of a smart bomb. A laser guided chemical delivery system to my desired target that delivers exactly the payload I want.
but here are some alternative names though
neuromones
activemone
puremone
monetech
techmones
expertmones
next level mones
promones

Exactly! Boom.

Maybe we should say this explicitly on the frontpage?

Neat – we already have a couple of your suggestions (such as ProMones, which we intended to be business mones). Thanks for these. It helps a lot with my considerations.

I see a couple are tech oriented. I’ve been considering testing names related to this. Pheromones are a technology, and people like technology.

Although technology is complex, everyone seems to like it nonetheless. Technology, is, after all, the practical side of science that you can use.

Unfortunately, most tech oriented pheromone names that roll off the tongue nicely are taken.

vaginalsecretions.com ‘get your copulins here’

just kidding

ooh, I like it

i like smart because i make the inevitable subconscious connections with smart products and decisions because i am a smart individual. i am also a pompous ass, so smart + pompous + bath in alpha nol/IS=wonderful.

please don’t dumb down your products, or the information available. if anything, have a redirect and separate page here called pheromones for dummies or something to that effect.

those of us that are ready willing and eager to experiment, learn and improve are already served here so a separate but inclusive page for those who still believe that pheromone+sitting at a table by themselves in a club=sex with numerous women can be educated at their own pace.

I like that idea…I’ve had several years of pheromone experience already. A kitty page for the noobs would be a turn off to the intermediates and pros.

It was partially humorous, but I also know from “public contact” and marketing work that you often need to make the name as obvious as possible. (There’s that cultural anthropology again…)

It’s going to depend on what/who your target market is. Putting myself in the frame of mind of a “typical” young potential purchaser doing a google or web-fishing search, I’m probably going to look for something with the name “pheromone(s),” “seduction,” “dating,” “sex,” “getting laid.com,” etc. Even the shortend somewhat jargony term “mones” may not come to mind for a newbie. Yes, something like “smartMones” is a fairly good name, but it may be something appreciated only be more sophisticated, experienced users. Of course some of this searching dilemma could be solved by adding in whatever possible “search” keywords might be used by someone.

Once they find the site, the actual name may not be as important as, as you suggested, giving an explanation right up front in easy to understand text what you mean by “Smart” pheromones (ie targeted, custom, “do the job”/good value/you won’t be wasting your money here). Same would go if you had a site named “Promones” or whatever.

I do admit I think I’d go more for a name that used the full term “pheromones” as opposed to just “mones.” Sorta what you were saying in the “jargon” thread.

As for “good” names being taken. JVK already has pheromones.com, and there is one called maxpheromones. Oddly enough though when I do a google I don’t really find very many sites that actually use the term “pheromone” in the URL. And I’m kinda suprised that not many of the sites I actually visit use the full term “pheromone” in the web page name as well.

Sometimes I see a play on the word, like pherotones (sexy ring-tones? okay…).

Well I’m rambling and not really thinking this out as clearly as I could. But these were a few quick thoughts. Today is not being a day for polished prose from me.

Updated thoughts:

I can agree that the use of the word “pheromone” might put off business users. Especially knowing some of the more staid corporate types. Again names probably need to be chosen depending on the target customer/market.

The young crowd would probably best respond to “hot to trot.com” or something.

Your (MHarris) idea of “young again” would probably appeal to us old farts over 50.

For business/corporate users something like “BusinessScents” comes to mind.

Better ideas may spring into mind as I let the thoughts stew on my brain’s back burner…

Not sure that’s do-able due to tm issues, but… Excellent idea, nonetheless! Thank you.

I like how you’ve outlined perhaps the hidden fantasy of many first time pheromone users.

Many of the ads don’t help.

The other secret fantasy I see is hinted at sitting down at the mall, on a chair near a kiosk or at in the food court… and all the younger women start getting stuck to you like lint, drawn in by your static electricity.

Of course, with IFM and Shine (which tends to reduce personal space), we’re getting a little closer to fantasies… but still… being willing and able to initiate will always be superior for men. Sometimes you don’t need to say much, but saying something works wonders.

I think with all your talk of attraction, even you still initiate in many ways, right? You’re not truly passive. You don’t seem like a passive guy whatsoever.

Which isn’t necessarily demeaning or a bad thing. I think it’s just courteous to make things as easy as possible.

Take a complex VCR, for instance… is it really worth it to learn how to be a VCR Programmer to just set the time?

There’s too many things going on in life and too few days to live to really waste time making things overly complex, you know?

Again, I think being as obvious and easy as possible is a courtesy.

Interesting, yeah. Well, we have SmartPheromones, too, but I put SmartMones.com on the home page, because it’s easier to return to.

Fact is, the word Pheromones is a dog. Nobody can spell pheremones. You see as many variations of pherimones as there are furrymone molecules out there.

I’ve even seen people in the pheremoan industry mispell furrymoans in their emails, it’s ridiculous.

Just a tough, tough word.

I also have “brand name” variations I’ve had for awhile like pheroma.com. I think that’s a nice word, but a little feminine seeming, perhaps.

I also have “smart” names that incorporate the idea of pheromones in a witty way, but have nothing to do with the word. ScentSei.com, for instance. I had a slogan for that one, too, which nicely summarizes one aspect of pheromones… “Scents You Can Feel”™.

Witty doesn’t always work, however. It seems to work best in high end fashion or cosmetic markets.

May work better at higher end department stores, for instance, than it would online.

Yeah, those are hot. Ever listen to those?

PheroTones is actually an interesting viral marketing experiments.

And thanks for all your thoughts.

Basically, objectivity about pheromones and I are about as far away as they could ever be right now. Nobody as involved as I’ve been the past few years would have objectivity, yet it’s the essential ingredient to making things both good (useful to actual people, not just some technical whimsy I have) and appealing (accessible to newer users).

I appreciate your and everyone’s comments here. They help.

hey, if you use this hook a brother up with some lab -none  ,… www.pheroCamp.com

haha, that static electricity comment is funny. even though it doesn’t always work like that, pheromones do tend to attract reactions however subtle, and those reactions can and should be opened and closed.

i don’t initiate as much as i used to. at least not in a common pick up way i guess. i like for women to qualify themselves first.

Pheromones @ Camp, huh? Great idea!

It’s funny, because it’s really the outer reactions that are subtle. Not the inner.

I’ve had different pheromones sprung on me so many times without my foreknowledge, I now know with pretty high certainty how the pheromone induced changes in mood and social posturing are anything but subtle.

What’s subtle is our ability to perceive what’s going on in others.

The difference between human and animal reactions is that people don’t let on easily… they have a “public face”, despite how they feel inside.

Now when a dog has a reaction to you, you know it. Especially if it’s a sexual one – then the pup, in an instant, starts getting busy with your leg. It doesn’t require finely tuned eyes or ears to tell what’s going on.

The best signs to look for in people are those that most don’t know about. People know to control their eye contact, for instance, but they don’t know to control how flush their cheeks are, rate of breathing or eye dilation.

Most don’t know to even control their volume, yet that’s an obvious sign of interest – when someone gets suddenly loud around you, when talking to their friends or into their cell phone.

There’s lots of little things people don’t know to control.

I still want a 20 page step-by-step from you. Especially with some of that magic background you had, it should be interesting.

I especially want you to detail how you get women to approach you and initiate, with no action on your part whatsoever. (I know that withdrawing deep into my own mind and ignoring everything around me – all in public – sometimes does it for me; it seems like people can’t stop approaching you when the last thing you want is to be bothered!)

i don’t think most people make the smart bomb assocation. i’ve never been a fan of the name smartmones but it has going for it what most don’t – it’s not sleazy.

Right, it’d have to be explicit. The association probably isn’t automatic for most.

Even though I don’t like violence, a literal bomb image is more appealing to me than mixing up pheromones with a brain image, for some reason. “Targeting” has a natural relationship in love and mating.

That reminds me… I liked the idea of La Femme Nikita, too. Again, while I don’t like violence, nonetheless girls with guns are pretty hot for some reason.

I can’t wait to see that new movie with Milla Jovovich, for instance… what’s it called? Ultraviolet?

While we all know (or have heard) that “sex happens in the brain”, it’s not a natural association for us. I don’t think the word “smart” is normally sexy, except to people who truly value intelligence over everything else. (and just look at who primarily uses our forums – most of our active forum users are nothing less than brilliant – proof positive!)

Not that there’s anything wrong with thinking smart is sexy… But it’s perhaps an unnecessary limiter. You can have smart products without calling them smart.

Perhaps that is, in fact, the “smarter” to do.

Heh. You’re right, at least it’s got that.
