I’m a newbie so I’ll just say a few words about me then get to my point, eventually.
I’m Andy, I’m 25 and I’m currently studying for my MA in Pontypridd, just north of Cardiff in Wales, but I’m originally from Bedford, England.
Received my order earlier this week - A314, shine, openness, honesty and Turn Up The Heat (togo’s) - Only had one evening at a friends house with them, using 1xA314 and 1xshine so far. I couldn’t really sense any difference from usual although one lad whom I’ve only met once previously did seem rather too overly grateful in the car when I was giving him a lift home. Hmmm?
I became interested in pheromones around 2 months ago, it’s a bit long winded to explain but stick with it and I hope I don’t bore your socks off, out the house and running off down the street on their own accord!
I’m currently working on a interactive multimedia, multi-location-performance art installation. Basically by using architecture, lighting and both acoustic and visual techniques along with cognitive psychology and suggestion, I’m trying to create a network of spaces/environments that evoke certain feelings/emotions all tied together through music. For example, in one of the many areas, using certain colours, both in lighting and decoration, and specific object placement such as a collection of various beach balls in the centre of the space I’ll try to convey a sense playfulness along with using a lot of other techniques.
(It’s at this point, annoyance at my flat-mates inability to pay the electricity bill increases dramatically as I felt my previous explanation, up to this point, had far more clarity and linguistic entertainment. First impressions count and all that, although some of you around here seem to think that that doesn’t matter so much!
anyway… (can you tell I can ramble a little?) …)
During research I stumbled across pheromones and was immediately intrigued by the possibilities it seemed they could provide for such an installation. Could I, for example, release a mild dose of Instant Shine pheromones discreetly into the immediate environment and at regular intervals to enhance or promote the happy/playful feeling mentioned above? As a result I have a few questions and any feedback would gratefully received on any subject.

Are there any known medical issues that affect people when using these products? Is there an example of a rash occurring for example, and if so could it be traced back to the scent being used?

What are people’s opinion on this type of “suggestion” with specific regard for using pheromones publicly? I understand the ethical reasons for informing the audience before the start of what might take place, but feel it would be more interesting to observe the interaction with the audiences environment, (as both the environment and the music will react to certain human actions,) if they weren’t so aware of the causes. For example, in Derren Browns’ stage show he uses NLP suggestion techniques throughout his performance and creates a scenario at the end of the show where he asks multiple choice questions, and the answer is always the one he has been encouraging you to think of, without even realising it, once the act/trick is completed, he reveals just enough information to explain to you how he knew what he knew, if he had informed the audience at the begining, his act might not have worked. But then again, the mere suggestion of pheromone use may be enough to encourage certain aspects of behavior to come out.

Are there any Health & Safety implications arising from the use of pheromones in this way?
-
Does anybody know of a method for discreetly spreading pheromones in a room in a controlled manner?
-
What are peoples opinions on this project as a whole so far? The idea of utilising pheromones in this fashion is just an idea that kept rolling and is in no way guaranteed to be included, just in case of medical issues public safety etc and in a way, it might even work better without.

Are the any products that would be a definite NO for use in a situation where say, the space is designed to provoke feelings of unease, sadness, religious beliefs etc.
I’ve got hundres more, (I can hear the sighs of boredom already, lol,) but I genuinely would be very interested to hear anybodys point of view about anything to do with any of this.
Cheers,
Andy/Badger (delete as applicable)
