I have been using IO 2x for some time with mixed results. I have noticed a sharp odor associated with it however. As a big fan of Acqua di Gio, I have started applying it to hide the smell (that I think some have described as similar to cat urine). Has anybody else noticed this odor and if so, what has worked for you to cover the smell. The other day, before I had discovered using AqDGio a shop girl seemed to catch a whiff of the smell, (she was sniffing while I was at her register, as if signalling that she had caught wind of an unpleasant odor). AqDGio seems to work pretty well but once it fades the smell of cat pee returns.
IO has anol and bnol in it, I find them to be very pleasent smelling and im always smelling myself lol. I thought it was -none that smelt like pee? (Which is not in IO).
Most, if not everyone just use a form of cologne to cover smells if they find them unpleasent… I always use joop but if your Acqua di Gio seems to fades just av a browse in a store and find a stonger one IMO.
I use Instant Openness often. The Neroli scent is very pleasing and I have been complimented often. One of my favorite products. Are you using other products with it? How many sprays? After application … how long before is smells bad?
I use IO 2x normally one spritz on ea wrist. I normally wear Instant Shine 2x 1-2 spritzes on the neck and 1-3 drops of A314 on my chest. I cover everything with Acqua di Gio normally. Typically I can just barely make out the odor after application it being covered by the sweet cologne fragrance. Normally after a couple of hours the cologne fragrance will dissipate and the sharp odor will become more noticeable.
I could be wrong, but I think you might be experiencing the smell of A314 … it sort of takes some use to wear… to many … cat piss comes to mind. Neroli is kind of a citrus smell; so unless they changed the scent of IO or IS it should smell like that. Try it without the A314, use witch hazel to clean your old application points and shower, then apply IO and IS. Let us know if it smells better. Thanks.
I actually noticed the odor before I had ever received any A314 and the odor seems to be the strongest where I apply IO and to a lesser degree IS. I like the smell of A314, I notice a slight musk but it’s not the sharp smell I notice with IO. I may go for the 1x the next time I pick up a bottle of IO or IS. It’s not a big deal, I can cover it with ADGio pretty effectively or maybe move to eternity which seems to have a fragrance that lasts longer and would mix better with the odor that I noticed.
Actually the more concentrated (higher) the pheromone:scent ratio (less added scent) fewer sprays required; in other words a reduced scent package. Keep in mind not everybody detects scent or pheromones the same… what I might like you might dislike.
Just curious is you Instant Shine (1x); if so it may very well be the -anols you are detecting not the neroli scent. Interesting.
Both the IS and IO that I ordered are the x2 versions as I wanted to maximize the effect.
