ISHE08 presentation: perfume preserves some body odour quality, not just masks it

ISHE08 Abstracts

“…perfume is not merely masking the body odour, but rather that some aspect of body odour quality is preserved.”

When published in a peer-reviewed journal, results like this will support use of human pheromones in fragrance products. I occasionally post presentation abstracts to help others get a glimpse of the future.

Two of the listed presenters of the study linked above: Oberzaucher, E. and Grammer, K. attended the first presentation of results from Kellahan, Hoffmann and Kohl (2007), where we discussed the potential confounds of determining whether women were responding, unconsciously, to putative human pheromones, or to consciously detected odors associated with the putative human pheromones, or to other types of sensory signals from our confederate who may or may not have been acting differently depending on whether he knew if he was wearing pheromones, or was responding to sensory signals from women who were affected (or not) by the putative human pheromones whether or not they were able to detect them.

Anyone who can make sense of the paragraph above should attempt to get funding for research, and hope that they present new findings before someone else does.
