Hmmm, now we’re getting into an even heavier area to my mind. I think it breaks down into two things.
- Self effect. This is a pretty controversial subject.
This is just my take.
When you hit play you know what’s coming, you hear it when you make the decision to play it. You’ve already tasted the big mac when you order it. I think that Ishine causes you to release just as much dopamine (or whatever it does) the thousandth time you spray it as the first time. You don’t feel it the thousandth time because it’s not a surprise and your conciousness ignores it. Your concious controls the entire process.
2.Other effect. This is entirely subconcious. A girl encounters you wearing ammo. She feels an attraction. You talk a little and she feels attracted enough to make a coffee date with you. ( totally cool! this post was interrupted by SteveO calling to say hi, what an awesome thing). Where was I? So on the coffee date and sunsequent meetings you continue to wear ammo and she comes to associate that feeling with you. Continue to wear ammo and she’ll start to ignore the feeling. Switch around and she’ll feel the change. Remember though that pheromones are just a small part of the overall feeling that she has for you. At some point the overall feeling is ingrained no matter how much you switch pheromones and the overall feeling will come to be ignored.
OK I’m rambling but back to the point…I do think the physical release of hormones/neurotransmitters/whatever remains the same. The learned response is what changes, in ourselves or in others. Just my thoughts.
