I was wondering if there had been any study about Myers-Briggs personality types and the mones they generate. Basically what I am interested in is if we can get some idea of the mones which are more suitable for certain MB personality types.
MB perosnality type determination is routinely used in workplaces to understand the group dynamics or to better address the concerns of employees and to get the best out of them.
Basically according to this system there are four preference scales:
Extraversion or Introversion
Sensing or iNtuition
Thinking or Feeling
Judgement or Perception
For each of the four preference scales you belong to either one category or the other. This leads to a total of 16 personality types. But its not as clear cut, as obviously it’s very hard to categorize all of humanity into just 16 groups. So there are also scores for each preference scales saying how clearly you represent that scale. It can go from 1 (slight) to 60 (very clear).
Normally when we talk about people who should avoid -none we think about the big intimidating guys with high testosterone levels and with probably high none output and who seem unapproachable and say something softer like IO or SOE or WAGG will suit them better. CEE (Clint Eastwood Effect) is real and even people who don’t match that physical description may also seem unapproachable.
For example, INTJ (Introverted-iNtuitive-Thinking-Judging) personality types are normally deemed unapproachable and are suggested to be more open and inviting in workplaces to make up for that. So even if they are not big or intimidating would softer products still suit them better, or because (if) they have low testosterone or lower none output a high none product will suit them better (and make them more approachable)??
Has anyone here found out their MB types and then tried to base their mone usage on that?
I took an online version of one of these tests a while back and I turned out to be an ENTJ. I don’t know how that affects pheromones, but I can wear more none than most folks. When a particular mix goes sour, however, and creates a lot of distance, I get extra frustrated and distant; further accentuating the negative effects. When a mix goes well though (and it usually does), I’m quite the happy go lucky type.
I think these personality types would be quite useful in determining whether or not A314 is an appropriate product for a person.
Sigma, do you remember your scores for each preference? I am INTJ (17,17,29,1).
I was wondering if there were any cheap/free places to take these tests. I took it in my company but could never find one test online. Do you have the link?
Maybe all of us can take it and then it can be one more information to add when we describe our successful mixes (although my A+ blood group discussion didn’t take off, I still feel that will be another useful information to have).
This is very true for me as well. Well, we can always shrug off and say maybe next time. But since I don’t go out that much and because I think and prepare (or try to) a lot before applying my mixes, and because they are expensive it all adds up to keeping me down for the rest of the night/outing.
OK, there is a free place to take this online test. http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp
I don’t know why most others are paid service. Maybe they are more accurate. I remember answering almost 125 questions when I took the test in my company. But here there are only 70 questions. I am sure it gives you an idea though. Something to keep in mind, the preference scores may not turn out to be the same if the test is taken at different sources.
I’ve taken tests before and mine was always on the borderline of ENFP or INFP. I guess it really depends on what mood I’m in. I don’t really try to base my usage off of my personality type though.
What I do do is attempt to adjust my personality slightly or I just be more socially open and let the pheremones do what their supposed to do.
I’m not as good as analyzing these tings as otherse, but here are my results from the site you provided:
Your Type is ENTJ ExtrovertedIntuitiveThinkingJudging Strength of the preferences % 67381211
You are:
distinctively expressed extrovert
moderately expressed intuitive personality
slightly expressed thinking personality
slightly expressed judging personality
Part of the negative effects of a none OD, is that the mones tend to put me in a reclusive mood too. Its hard to put to words, and when it happens I always wonder if its the mones, or myself making me feel that way (probably both). It is frustrating, especially when attempts to shrug it off and enjoy the night get blown off - ie people are avoidant no matter how open and close you try to be. I don’t particularly enjoy being outcasted.
I OD on none very, very rarely though. Maybe thats part of the reason I don’t deal with it too well when it happens. I also tend to OD on nights when I really have a lot of hopes - these happen to be the days I apply heavy doses of none, and other mones that potentially convert to none.
If this works fine then I guess there is no reason for you to change your approach. Whatever works!! As regards me I am still looking to find the right methodology, which will work for me without fail. Hence I am interested in trying out any new approach.
As Sigma mentioned, when you have a none OD in your hands then even if you know it and try to make up for it by being more open and close, it has no effect. You try to be close and they are pushed farther back…seen it too many times and don’t like it at all. Have seen something similar for nol. You get affected by nol, start being too open, casual and funny and later on if some serious topic comes up, people exclude you from that conversation like you cannot have any thing important to say. Maybe its not bad for some people but I want to be a part of whatever conversation that comes up and don’t like to be left out.
I’m an INTJ… 44, 75, 75, 33. (I’m not sure what the numbers mean… I haven’t looked that up yet.) And I think mones are related to our personality type… if our personalities are not driven my mones!
I’ve noticed that A314 mutant is not terribly useful to me. People seem to not bother me, and I’ll often find them agreeing or going along with something even when I WANT to hear their arguments.
Ishine only seems to enhance something I already have, and make it a bit more persistant.
IFM is magic to me. Even guys seem to want to chat more with me when I’m wearing it. And when I went to Chipotle tonight and blew some off my wrist towards the girl behind the counter, I got a couple IOI’s, and ended up with a burrito about TWICE the normal size! (Dinner and breakfast!!!)
I mentioned in my first post in this thread “…scores for each preference scales saying how clearly you represent that scale. It can go from 1 (slight) to 60 (very clear).”
I’ve also wondered this as well…Could our natural pheromone signiatures dictate what our inherent personalities are like to some extent? I know that how a persons personality tends to develop is largely a matter of their upbringing and culture, but based on how drastically pheromones can affect my own behavior, I do think that they play role in a persons innate personality.
Anyway I think these tests are a wonderful tool for determining which mones to use, based on our specific goals. For example, an introvert type personality wanting more social attention could focus on more of the nols. Conversely, an extrovert type who comes off too as too friendly might benefit from higher amounts of androstenone (as is the case with me). A thinking type personality wanting to project a more intimate (feeling type) vibe could add on dienone.
Sigma, I kind of suspect that it’s actually a feedback loop… Your mones dictate your personality, and your personality dictates your mones.
You’ve always heard that people don’t change. Most don’t. But some can, with a lot of effort. Once we change, though, the change seems to stick.
So I bet that cheerful people emit cheerful mones which keep them cheerful. And maybe that’s why everyone in a particular fraternity or sorority seems to have the same kind of personality?
Does this make sense to you guys? Does it seem like it could be accurate?
Catlord, I was told in the seminar on MBTI that it’s also somewhat mood dependent and you shouldn’t ponder too much befoe answering any question as that might affect your results. For some people it has been found to change by age as well. Myers Briggs explained it as, as you age you start to discover your true self. Not too sure about the details but this variability is often seen and it’s likely due to over-thinking or not being in a very relaxed self mood.
