I just decided to give something a quick go since I was gonna make myself some breakfast. Everything was about normal until I starting cooking my eggs. I always let the oil heat up until boiling. I don’t know why but I started to smell the oil in the pan. Normally I only get a whiff of the olive oil scent when I open the bottle but the smell was plainly clear to me even though my nose was away from it. When I put my eggs on the table after they were done I began to eat but yet again I actually noticed the aroma of the olive oil in the egg and not so much the scrambled eggs scent itself. Normally I only smell the warmth “cooked” aroma but the olive oil both on the pan and while eating my eggs really stood out to me.
Funniest thing of all is I decided to drive to a close by park to take a walk for a while. When I entered my car I was hit with a car smell. Now everyone knows that when you buy a car brand new that it has a “smell” to it. My car is from 04 so obviously the smell is gone. Between the felt like interior and the leather on the seats I actually smelled them. Not to the extent like if it was brand new but the fact that ALL the time I jump in my car the smell is absolutely neutral and now all of a sudden I notice a smell again is strange to me.
Last notes - It really almost seemed as if it sharpened the acuity of my sense of smell. It was quite refreshing in a way being able to enjoy my food and car olfactory wise and visually instead of simply the latter.
