Self effects - I had this gnawing sensation on the right side of my head for the first 30-45 minutes.
I went for my usual morning walk around the park. These old guys were playing doubles on the tennis court and I saw one of my casual hitting partners. After about 1 or 2 laps around the park the men on the court were leaving except for my friend Jacque. I decided to go inside the court and say hello while passing him back his tennis balls as he was practicing serve.
He asked me “Why don’t we get some rallies going” I frankly replied that I didn’t have my racquet on me today.
Another dude that I play with here showed up out of nowhere. After seeing him arrive I switched from talking to him to Scott. He also asked me where my stuff was and why I didn’t bring it.
I told him I was going to go get my stuff and after taking a couple steps away he called me back and lent me his other racquet. He kindly told me to go hit with Jacque although I thought I’d be hitting with him. After hitting with Jacque for a while he decided to retire and I helped him pick up and we were just chatting. I was inquiring about the fact that I think he was helping out one of his hitting group which I saw while I was walking. He was just telling me that the guy had tennis elbow and he was trying to tell the guy to go easier on the follow through of his serve instead of snapping his arm the whole time at the end of the swing.
It was quite peculiar because for some reason Scott stopped practicing and came over because we stopped playing. Normally he does his own thing and he doesn’t like fraternizing with new people that much. He came over over and they warmly introduced themselves to each other. Here is what resulted due to Molecule K. Somehow we had this long long tennis conversation. A lot of the convo was smiles and laughs and just difference little nuances of carrying on. Much of that period they both had their bodies inclined to me giving me a lot of full eye contact. I know both of them but they never give me this sort of withstanding attention span. Jacque was just acting strange and Scott was going along with it. Scott likes to joke sarcastically but Jacque usually just keep things “serious”. Between them both I felt like they were trying to entertain me because lots of jokes they were saying were being directed towards me in terms of looking for approval of their humor.
Jacque gave me a real compliment playing wise but I tried to dismiss it saying I hit pretty flat (tennis jargon but anyway XD). This was the weird part. When I tried to dismiss it he quickly made a supplicating argument against my I guess modesty only then to look at Scott to make sure he would back him up and nodded in earnest saying that I do hit with a lot of spin and that my shot is quite explosive.
Last notes: I really felt like they were both trying to entertain me. It was as if I was King and they were my jesters trying only to please. A lot of respect and kindness. “K” definitely has a social quality to it because I was expecting Jacque to leave 15 minutes after talking a bit but we ended up conversing for 45-50 minutes which is a HELL of a long time between 2 guys who don’t know each other and me being a lot more of a listener rather than talker in this particular situation. Only after a long long pause did the conversation burn out and Jacque bid his farewell with us.
