P130 and Androstenone: A Bad Experience

Tuesday evening, I realized that I hadn’t applied any pheros that day. I didn’t have too much to do, so I figured I might as well get a little testing in. I applied 3 sprays (37.5mcg) of P130, one split between my wrists, one on my neck, and one which I applied to my wrist and then used a finger collect it and put it on my upper lip beneath my nose for self effects. I then applied 2 sprays MX389 (5mcg androstenone). I then went to quiz bowl practice. At first, I was feeling pretty good, but I began to notice that I was feeling a bit uncomfortable. The room was particularly full that night, and I felt a bit crowded. I also noticed that I was having trouble concentrating on person reading the questions and was missing a lot of questions I knew because even when I thought I was paying attention, my brain didn’t seem to be processing the information. A lot of side conversations were going on between members–everyone seemed very talkative and loud. I felt overwhelmed by this. I began to feel very irritable, almost angry, and overwhelmed. I also really had to pee. This normally wouldn’t bother me, as I have no problem holding or ignoring it, but for some reason it just kept distracting me. The whole situation got so bad that I had to go to the restroom where I found relief and attempted to rinse the majority of the -mones off of my skin. After that, I felt much better and much more relaxed.

I wonder if the same property of P130 that some people say makes it easy for them to read and respond to social situations makes it unfit for activities involving information processing not related to the social sphere (i.e. pulling random facts out of your brain based on listening to other random facts.) My attention kept being drawn to the people around me, but I mentally wanted to pay attention and participate in answering questions. I think this divide caused some of my anxiety. The addition of androstenone possibly also added a great deal of anxiety. -None doesn’t usually make me anxious, just a bit more aggressive and confident, so I feel the P130 contributed to this different reaction. I haven’t had a chance to try it out again, but I think I will soon to see if I have a similar reaction. Has anyone tested this combination or something similar?

Andrew,

I replied to the PM you sent on the 31st, as I didn’t get it until yesterday. If you’re reading this, let me know and maybe we can figure out a different way to contact one another if you’re still up for that offer in the trading post.

It definitely could be how your brain was being focused, wide angle social cognition and general situational awareness could be generating a number of pre-conscious processing functions… those same functions might not be the ones your conscious mind would “call”… like subroutines in programming… if tightly focused memory searching and specific categorization was needed… the irritation could be similar to frustration… when the limbic mind is moving in one direction and the frontal cortex wants it move in the opposite direction

Vespero,

You were not just wearing P130 and Androstenone. You were wearing P130 and MX389!!

Jessejester reported last month on the effects of MX389 (MX389 Test 1) and he reported irritability as being one of the self effects of MX389

Interesting. I think there were a lot of people who stated that one of the self effects they got was increased focus from P130. I never got that. I found it hard to concentrate. I wrote that somewhere in my journal. I did find that I was much more interested in engaging with people and looking at faces. I also found that I enjoyed writing more and felt a lot more creative. I actually wanted to test while painting, but I’m out.
