Perfumer's alcohol: SD38C vs SD40B, and can different types be mixed in one bottle?

Here’s one I’ve been pondering for a few days. Grab one of your bottles and look at the list of contents. Most say SD38C, some say SD38B or SD40B. Now as far as I can make out, these are all different forms of denatured alcohol.

I’m just about to put my next order in ready to try some alchemy of my own, my order will probably include a couple of the bottles of perfumers alcohol from the mixing supplies section, now, (a) which version does this contain and (b) does it make a difference if different types of alcohol are mixed in the same bottle? Do certain pheromones or putatives have to be carried in certain types of alcohol or are we able to mix as we see fit?

Big kudos to anyone who can provide me with a definitive answer on this one :smiley:

Not an expert but my research says that NON-denatured 96 degree alky is the best to use (I’m getting that info from Profumo.it)
An alternative is Everclear from the local liquor store.

Just for grins check out this link The Perfumer’s Apprentice - Glucam P-20

Don’t know the answer to b. The answer to a (I think) is maybe here:

While we’ re passing around links, try this to one of Denec’s threads;

The Liz Zorn link explains alot about alcohol.
