Me after a haircut, a funeral, and a well-deserved cry the lacked masculinity and caused me to delete several shots of my red eyes until they cleared.

I hate to be one to dissent here… but uhhh… you kill yourself in photos? Regularly? So there’s a whole slew of these, and there will be new ones???
I mean, they’re awesome photos. No doubt about that. Very well done. Nonetheless, killing yourself and keeping a visual record of it cannot be psychologically healthy. There’s either some underlying pathology to that, or there will be.
After all, these are very “cool” looking (you’re a great artist, no doubt about it!) Because they’re so cool looking, you probably look at them often (seeing yourself as a victim, in a realistic fashion). It’s very artistic, but photos manipulated in this manner have actually been used as somewhat secretive forms of torture. I’m surprised you’re willingly doing this to yourself, on a repetitive basis.
What has been driving you to make these?
But then again, here is another interpretation of this: Maybe he is ‘killing’ or denying his old self, or maybe even his bad habits, in order to remake himself into a newer, better person. I would look for his next series of photomontages to have a theme of rebirth and renewal.
That is just another way of interpreting it. Examine, what exactly were you going for with these dark self portraits?

naw not regularly, it was more of a project. i do a lot of shocking, and emotional work. have you ever seen a scary/gory flick? are the producers and make up artist mentally insane? not at all. to some, it is shocking. to me its what triggers people to be shocked (triggering emotion) that i find soothing.
