Picks for the Stanley Cup!

Alright people, Who’s your pick for the semi finals this year?

Eastern is definitly going to be the Pittsburg but i’m not sure who they’re going to be up against  .
I’m rooting for Montreal, but after watching tonights game, Boston loks really good. Any catch the game?

Western is going to Calgary vs. detroit

This match up is almost certain to be happening. I’d like to think the Flames’ll ave it, but Detroit is one power house of a team!

So I ask you,
Who’s your picks?

I think Pittsburgh will come out of the East too, but I wouldn’t count out the Rangers either.
The West is sooo hard to tell. Detroit is good but they don’t hit enough. Calgary has a big hill to climb to beat San Jose. And both Dallas and Anaheim could go all the way too. Nashville sucks. At the start I would have picked San Jose but I would throw Dallas in the mix now too.

Hey that’s us! But seriously, I met a girl the other week at Hooters who works for the Stars, and although I’m only a hockey fan when the stars get to the semi’s, she says that with the lineup this year we’re going to take the cup.

She was cute, so I’m riding with her! It’s ours!

:open_mouth: Oh wait whoops I left a word out when I was reading that :stuck_out_tongue: Never mind carry on LOL

You do have a dirty mind! Shame shame…

With that being said, and with risk of being from chicago.

DIE HARD Red Wings fan!

It was hard to be a Blackhawks fan for a long time but the future is looking brighter for them. I’m a Leafs fan myself and things are pretty grim right now.
Now that Detroit is starting Osgood they should be pretty good. Not that Hasek is bad but he has not been playing well.
I wonder who Jasmin’s pick is, she used to play hockey.

I need to be honest, seeming as how I started this whole thread. I’m not a huge hockey fan at all. But, it’s the only thing on these days. I prefere lacrosse, but that’s never really brodcast to much these days.

As for the Leafs… Well I was raised a die hard Leafs fan since i could count, but latley I’ve been having second thoughts. I feel bad about turning my back on them but, they’ve been plagued with bad luck fr many many moons. I like Buffalo personally. They picked up Sweden’s Junior Golie and after watching the world juniors that guy was amazing! We’ll have to seehow the play-offs turn out, but one thing is for sure.
This year’s play-offs are going to be great!

You made some pretty solid picks for not being a big fan.
I’m not sure why more people don’t watch hockey. It is fast with lots of flow and skill plus hard hits. Many people think there is alot of fighting but it has really dropped off.
Detroit and Dallas both advanced today.

I’ve got a huge crush on Yzerman, and’ve always been a red wings fan!

BUT!
I also played on the arrowhead pond of anaheim’s ice when I was a kid (during halftime… Jr Ducks playing hockey between the ducks game. CLASSIC!), so I am partial to the ducks, too… And they won the Stanley Cup recently, so I have a little bit of a home town thing going.

How on earth did you remember that, chads! I think I told you that over the phone agggess ago!

Now come on Jasmin, Beverly Hills and Anaheim are two different worlds. You aint foolin us.

And Sunset Strip is another world in itself. As are Melrose and Hollywood Blvd’s. But, I did have lots of fun going to clubs like the Roxy, Starwood, Troubadour and Whisky A Go Go, as a 17 kid playing roadie for some friends that had a band, and getting VIP passes and free beer.

But god, that was more years ago than I care to count. It sucks getting old. :open_mouth:

Jasmin, you just got 47000 duper points. They are kinda like super points, only DUPER (duper points have no monetary value. duper points may however be redeemed for awesome prizes, to be determined later)

Yzerman is the absolute man. He was the anchor, foundation, corner stone, missing link, and everything else of the Wings. His leadership was that of true hockey players, not todays team jumping money grubbers. Federov was my all time favorite for a long time, till he left for a bigger check, and although he is still good ol’Feddy, I have lost respect. It will be a shame to watch as the greats go from that team. They have sooo many legends, but sadly, they are a very old on average team. Hasek is 44! Osgood is close, and chelly was frying sausages for moses back in the day.

I got to play with Chellios and his son for aobut 20 minutes a few years back, best experience of my life. That man taught me more about hockey in that time than 4 seasons could, amazing.

It would be great to see all those old farts take one more home before they have to say good bye for realz this time.

My fam is hockey crazy, at least the one side anyway, broke my grand mothers heart as a lil’kid when I didnt wanna play hockey. I don’t mind hockey I just hate skating. Lacrosse is my game though, Chad ever watched a game? You want to see hard hits you must watch lacrosse. Not field lacrose though, more running, less hitting. Box lacrosse is where it’s it!
And to Jasmine… well sorry about the Ducks losing. Well… I say sorry to you, but WooT! The ducks Lost!!!

I tried to play Lacrosse, and I was Ok, but Im no runner. Bad knees make any field sport hard, and my endurance for running is pretty bad too. I can skate till the end of time, but run…Ill pass. I will admit tho, I did a summer of box lacrosse and I have never had so much fun hitting people, it really is great
Two of high school homies on lacrosse just tore ACL’s tho, nasty buisness :open_mouth:
I suppose Im fortunate to not have gotten hurt badly sooner. I wish they made it more accessable on TV, its a fun game to watch. I dont think I could ever play goalie in it tho, thats whack.

I’ve always had a good memory.

I’ve seen lacrosse clips on tv and it looks pretty exciting but I’ve never been to a game. My brother went to one and said it was good.

Yzerman was good but that last year he could hardly skate. I was glad he took himself off Team Canada. In the playoffs of his last year though he was Detroit’s best player.

Your right, he could hardly skate and I’ll admit his time was up. But even tho he was an old bag’o’bones, I can tell you from experience that skilled or not, having someone thats been playing in the league since before most of the people on the team started to play the game is priceless. The man was captain when I was born, thats a long time! You can have all the skill in the world but without any experience you can be good, even very good, but never great, nor will you have true respect from the rest of the league.
