Skin Bacteria and Pheromone Interaction

I’m quite curious as I tend to stay up to date on the latest studies and what have you. Recently published in Science was an article titled “Your Body Is a Wonderland … of Bacteria;” what they are claiming is that our skin is a host of numerous bacteria, both good and bad.

What I am wondering is, do you think its possible that those areas that have a larger concentration of bacteria break down pheromones much quicker or are detrimental to the effects of pheromones? Forearms, for instance, are said to have one of the largest concentrations of various bacteria. Whereas, the area behind the ear is one of the most “barren” (as they put it) with a very small amount of bacterial species.

Now the ear area does raise some questions to me as it seems to be one of the most recommended spots to place pheromones. Coincidence perhaps? I know that most users spray on their wrists and even though I am rather new I have done some extensive reading already and have seen that quite a few users here spray on their forearms. Just trying to look out for them if this study actually does mean something hehe. Let me know your thoughts!

EDIT: Heres a link to the Science magazine article: http://sciencenow.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/2009/528/1

hey there! links are a-okay , as long as it not spam advertising stuff, like magic pills that make your snake grow lol. but scientific stuff like this is great to have a link, so others can go read and get more points of view on it, have you posted in the new user group yet?

haha ok sounds good just wanted to be sure first. and yeah i already posted in the new user forums and said hi. had a lengthy intro

Skin bacteria are also responsible for making some of the mones on human skin: you sweat, they thrive and the byproduct is natural mones (plus a little funk).
