Some thoughts and ideas? Thanks a ton!

Guys and girls,

I would like your advice / recommendations / suggestions on the following scenario and what vibe I wish to convey.

Scenario: My operational rotation in Chicago is up and I’m about to start a new one at our main hub in NY. The atmosphere is a little more formal and less “chill-oriented”. I don’t know anyone there, so will be meeting everyone for the first time. FIRST IMPRESSIONS ARE CRUCIAL.

Vibe: I wish to convey a vibe that projects:

  • charismatic and confident
  • high-value (but not intimidatingly so…)
  • dependable and trustworthy
  • professional yet approachable

What I want them to think: “Hmmm…yep. I like this guy, he’s a pro but I can have a beer and talk about women with him”

What I’m thinking: 1 drop A314, 2 sprays IH, 3 sprays IS.

Your thoughts? I’m keeping A314 a little light because I don’t want to come over as too overbearing or intimidating, especially as first impressions are quite critical.

Very many thanks!

Given your descriptions I’d actually go with a 50/50 ratio of A314 and MX297. The A314 gives you the professional and high value aspects, the 297 lessens the intimidation and makes it more approachable. I wouldn’t use 297 alone, it’s a little too “rock star” for a professional setting but with the more serious vibe of A314 it should convey exactly what you’re looking for.

Why don’t you try IG. It is a high-value without coming across as dominant and authoritative. A314 is like “Dick Cheney” and “Bob Knight” (a former super-dominant Indiana U basketball coach); IG is more like “Bill Clinton” and “Phil Jackson:” highly respectable but not intimidating and somewhat still “cool” and “fun”;

To throw in another cousin of A314, Mx297 is more like George W. Bush: someone with status but enough of tough, Texan-like attitude - I think Bush is a faker, but I am not going more into that :stuck_out_tongue:
