We just recently had our bathroom remodeled and during the process, I discovered my old ammonium alum deodorant crystal. (Wondered where it went!) So I started using it again, and it’s been doing a great job as usual.
Then I started thinking… the pit trick relies on bacteria rich skin… and by applying this stuff, you’re inhibiting the bacteria. So by applying this stuff, and pheromones, you’re able to use the arm pits as an application point (potentially useful for the smellier mones, like none and a1) without having to worry about conversion.
I’m sure this isn’t a new idea… just thought I’d throw it out there, though.
Maybe I am wrong. But I understood pit trick differently. Hence my post about it few posts past. From what I have read so far -None and A1 are quite resistant to conversion anyway, although some bacteria do convert A1 to -none, but it’s a slow process. So we can apply these mones there without worrying about conversion and without any special need for eliminating bacteria there. They will still work fine for the duration they are supposed to.
We want to apply mones in the pit for a different reason I think. One of them is because that is one of the prime place where we emit natural pheromones in highest concentration.
Also, when our arms are hanging by our side this area is significantly hotter than other areas on our body thus increasing dispersion of these supposedly stickier mones.
Yet another reason is that dispersion is somewhat under our control. It was often recommended that you flap your arms to increase dispersion when you want to see immediate effects. This is very similar to blowing air on your wrist towards your target but much more discreet.
That’s my understanding. Hence my earlier post about able to apply -nol in the pit which is impossible unless you have taken care of bacteria there well enough.
I thought I read about applying androstenol to the arm pit. But, in any case, this would allowyou to apply anything you like to the armpit and have the natural dispersion vector.
I remember that when CaptKipling first started posting about his pit trick, I had suggested that he try using Androstadienone since it is supposedly at the top of the skin conversion chain. Theoretically, by doing so you would get a far richer population of pheromones resulting from the conversion. However, this may be a rather simplistic theory when you consider the complex reality of the conversion process. Out of the diverse population of bacteria on the skin, only those which can metabolize testosterone, e.g. coryneform bacteria, tend to be investigated. The presence of other bacteria, however, can cause metabolites to convert back to their original form. Gower found the conversions difficult to follow due to the complexity of the process. In his work, he found conversions to favor reduction over oxidation. He also found that large amounts of Androstenone and Alpha Androstenol were converted from dienol and Androstadienone. In fact, iirc there was mention that Alpha Androstenol, Beta Androstenol, dienol and Androstadienone were found on the skin in greater amounts, than in fresh secretions, as well as no decrease was found compared to fresh secretions.
So if I understand this correctly, there is a natural tendency for pheromones to build up on your skin where bacteria can create a diverse chemical signature. All of this leads me to consider the idea that conversion may not be a bad thing and this continual process of conversion and/or reconversion is an attempt to maintain your natural pheromone signature. So if we apply exogenous pheromones, do we merely begin converting them into things which fit our indigenous pheromone signature? Is it merely some primordial chemical stew that is seething and ever changing out of which we only taste particular flavors? Or is it merely a matter of mistaking chaos for order?
I know that every time I’ve used Alter Ego, and only Alter Ego, my body would secrete a thin film over my skin and things usually didn’t get interesting until about 6-8 hours after application…I began to exude the scent of black truffles…seriously. However, I don’t normally smell of truffles, so is it a matter of the fact that I introduced more fuel to the fire and would I, therefore, begin to smell this way if I pumped out proportionally massive amounts of indigenous Androstenone, Androsterone and Alpha Androstenol? Well, perhaps not the Androsterone as I don’t think that coryneform bacteria can metabolize it, although some other bacteria may…don’t know that anyone has investigated and/or found any, thus far. I believe that this is one of the reasons JVK thought of Androsterone as a “safe” pheromone, iirc. Anyway, it seems that the conversion process is a rather slow one, so it may not be a huge issue. After a few years of pheromone use, I can’t say that I’ve ever had a problem w/ conversion. Same goes for build up…even back in the days when I used some kind of Androstenone product daily.
Makes you wonder?
Interesting stuff. I think I have only had trouble with buildup a few times… androsterone is certainly turning out to be an interesting pheromone, that’s for sure!
