I’m sure that in some form or fashion, everyone knows what gears they have and precisely how they tick away and when to make them tick, this particular account will tell the tale of something different with that mechanism…
Before my package arrived at the office, I was engaged in speaks with the Project Management board to have a deficient human resource removed from my project. That went down in the usual way of having to bluntly state why someone who was there long before me wasn’t good enough for my standard. As much as I hate to do these things, I have my purpose and orders and one speed, my speed.
Unfortunately, this creates a lot of animosity in the workplace and my arrogance is something to be reckoned with, I normally just walk right through the animosity and get on with life as if nothing happened. In fact, my arrogance is the only thing bigger than me and my office built two doors, one for me and the other for my arrogance…
Anyhow, after the meeting, DHL paged me to collect my package which I did without delay. I immediately ran into the chambers, opened it up and spotted a nice teaser of IS with my A314 (thanks for the complimenting note and the freebie there, Jasmin).
This is where the clock kind of stopped for a moment…
I’m familiar with the instructions for pretty much all the products in the shop so I started with the IShine… Two blasts to the front of my neck (most of my interactions are head on). Next, I took the A314 and dabbed a single drop on my left wrist, rubbed it into my right wrist and wiped the excess off on both sides of my neck… I need not say that I am first and foremost a sceptic of all theoretical applications in practise.
Immediately, I noticed the pleasant smell of the IShine as well as the almost ammonia-tic pungently obvious odour of the A314 so I decided to stay locked up in the cubicle until the smells “settled”. About 2 minutes passed…
The all of a sudden: NARF, POIT, TROZ, ZORT - ka-sploiiiiiiing… My jaw kind of locked itself into a closed state, my eyes opened so wide it actually hurt for a couple of seconds and I suddenly had gears cranking away that I never knew existed… In that very cubicle, I just started smiling uncontrollably to the point that I decided to evacuate the cubicle and start making my last rounds for the Friday afternoon before I started giggling away.
I must say, I am normally witty and extremely arrogant in a way that already makes people shy away from my very presence as soon as they see me, but, for some reason, on this particular round, these wits and arrogant gestures suddenly became very cooooool, very posh! Where I would stop expecting to let it let out on someone who has rendered poor quality of deliverables, I was cool and supportive. Where I stopped to credit and render the “pat on the back”, people were really happy to get my compliments. My rounds normally last 10 to 15 minutes TOPS, this round lasted me 1 hour and 30 minutes…
People were just so talkative and blah blah admiring of what we all achieved thus far in the space and budget we were given, it’s like everyone just wanted to be in my team and were glad to be there.
I finally had to get back to my area where the chap I needed to let go of was patiently waiting for me for a debriefing… Oddly enough it wasn’t a matter of me saying: “Get out of my sight”, it was a matter of: “Finish the assignment over the weekend and we’ll debrief you on Monday.”, bloody unexpected I’d say. Again, the chap was so happy and glad I gave him a second chance (which I never do) that he got back to his station and started working on his assignment, from scratch… It’s not the first time I’ve told him to start again and in the past he’s just bolted fixes onto problems we identify during workshops…
Anyways… Moving on… There is a particular office that I continuously have to play the obsequious card to get any sort of response from them, to cut this one short… I felt soooooo confident that I walked right into this director type’s office and said that I need their support as bluntly as I could put it… Initially he didn’t take to well to my suggestion; I guess I jumped the gun, however, 5 minutes later of literally shouting and swearing at each other, his exact words:
“Ok, ok… lets all calm down. I’ll schedule a session on Monday morning and you can make your proposal, you have my support.”
That’s very outside of his normal behaviour, very outside, especially offering me his personal sipport… That’s about it for the time being, this took place within the space of about 3 hours by the way… I’m planning to hit a nightclub-club tonight where people already part a way when I walk in there, I’m curious to see what will happen during this exercise…
A314 has had a completely unexpected effect on my personality. Normally I’m the type of person you’d rather avoid purely due to the fact that I do not withdraw and retreat at the first sign of trouble; I’d attack it head on, to the point where a physical beating might even arise until I win. Today, in these final hours of the day, it was as if the wits about me were so belted down and my arrogance was converted to a powerful suggestion…
People reading this might think that I’m generally unpleasant, this is not the case… It a simple matter of, there is a goal to be achieved, if you’re with me and can keep up, we will achieve it… Socially, I’m a respectable type of person, lots of genuine friends and even more so of the leeching types. I tend to tolerate the leeches as they also need a place and purpose in life…
I guess to sum up:
IShine: Caused all the blah blah blah and people wanting to be there?
A314: Don’t waste my time, victory was mine before the battle even started, and that’s a definite…
Conclusion: Converted
.
Have a great weekend, y’all…
