Thanks, I did not know that
I was merely trying to illustrate the fact that we, as a culture, try and ‘cure’ people of things considered abnormal, doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be a mental disorder, just that it is considered ‘conditioned’ psychologically.
Indeed, but because the science behind research involving sexual orientation is inadequate at the moment, and I refer to the technology, the results of the various tests\studies are, really, inconclusive.
Truth, in this instance, is unknown and therefore, in peoples minds, whatever they think the truth is, is the truth. People have a tendency to be, unscientific.
Quite interesting really… ideas are easy to mold and shape, but beliefs, now that’s tricky. As human beings, we seem to hold more beliefs in live than malleable ideas. Surprisingly, it appears to be a method to survive. (In this instance our lives, seeing as we are at the top of the food chain and resources are abundant, specialism seems to prevail over generalism in the current survival scheme) It motivates us, and allows for something to strive for, it gives us purpose, and ensures we don’t end up living in a box.
This is an underlying social\cultural influence.. so doesn’t it seem that science is both contradictory and congruent to this view? I mean, science is the method by which we search for truth, but try to do so in a non-biased\objective way
But, we’re not objective creatures, the fact that we are searching for truth tells us that, we hold a belief! That accuracy, correctness, can be a definable thing. Science is, in a way, a belief system, but at the same time promotes ideas to be impartial! Got to love that!
Sorry about that, didn’t mean to digress, I just find it interesting
