Miner, E.J., and Shackelford, T.K. (2008). All thorns, no rose: A well-intentioned but misguided book about smell. A review of Rachel Herz, The Scent of Desire: Discovering Our Enigmatic Sense of Smell.Evolutionary Psychology, 6(2): 283-288.
Personally, I don’t think reviewer’s who are outside the field can give an accurate representation of her work. They want her to be more scientific, but they give the impression that they don’t understand the science of olfaction anymore than Herz understands evolutionary psychology.
