The weirdest thing I've seen in years...

these guys take it to a new level… who exactly is on drugs here ?

Yup, it’s really on the ballet.

I love those animations that those East Asian news companies do. They do great ones on events in the British Government!

I’m up for legalisation though being realistic, I doubt it will ever happen in the UK. Let’s look at a few of the pros and cons.

Pros:

  • The government can tax it.
  • Corporations would make big money from producing and selling.
  • The government then get even more money through corporation tax, small business taxes and income tax.
  • THC (the component in cannabis that get’s you ‘high’) is non-neurotoxic. Alcohol and nicotine, legal drugs are neurotoxic by the way. Ironically, THC has actually been found useful in treating alcohol abuse.
  • Cannabis is useful in many medical applications including treatment for several forms of cancer.
  • In a very recent study, THC has actually been shown to block the neurotoxicity of MDMA (ecstasy) making MDMA nothing like a Class A drug.
  • Legalisation will mean that it will be a lot easier for scientific studies to be authorised and carried out.
  • Authorities can cut their spending quite significantly on enforcing the law surrounding cannabis.

Cons:

  • Because of businesses and taxes, it is a reasonable assumption that prices would go up considerably.
  • Abuse will happen (just like alcohol, prescription drugs etc).
  • Long term use has been shown to increase the severity of schizophrenia, depression and manic depression in those who are already suffering from it, even in mild cases. Note, alcohol, a legal drug, is proven to be a depressant.
  • The criminal community associated with cannabis aren’t suddenly going to go clean.
  • Regardless on what you may have read on pro-legalisation websites, in several studies it has been proven that cannabis does significantly increase the risk of having an accident while driving. Again, so do legal drugs like alcohol and prescription drugs. Thus, if legalisation occurred, more legislation would have to be created to battle the abuse of cannabis.
  • A white out feels like death.

Overall I think the pros outweigh the cons. I’d be very interested to hear the opinions of others.
