I didn’t fool myself into thinking I’d be able to receive my goodies and try them all one at a time. ![]()
Here’s what happened:
First, a rant: DHL–never again. NEVER. They’ve had my packages since last Friday; they FLY the package from BURBANK to LA–and fail to deliver. For FIVE DAYS. (Okay, that’s also counting the weekend.
) I live in a condo and the front door just apparently foiled them SO MUCH that that they can’t update their status or let me know that they just can’t deliver to me. It took until today, with 3 frustrating phone calls, when I had to physically hitch a ride to the nearest DHL pickup center in the downtown warehouse district in hellacious traffic. Then I realized I hadn’t brought my tracking info and the initial lady was not helpful at all when I desperately asked if I could quickly check the internet for it. Nope, nothing she can do… But she did call in a superior who was super nice (attitude is everything, you know?) and I realized I had the tracking info via a voicemail on my cellphone.
Okay, PRIME time to test out Instant Shine right? And believe me, I was critical as I LOVE to indulge in rage at others’ incompetency. =D
I forgot I’d ordered IS (to go) double strength, and spritzed it three times, completely skeptical: face/neck, and twice in my hair.
I breathed in the scent of neroli musk, feeling cranky about the entire universe. But within minutes–it was pretty interesting. The scent softened up my edges; I immediately felt a scent-memory feeling, where something about the breezy, light musk of the scent brought back an association of a good atmosphere, having fun with friends–that scent. It was a physical change closely linked with the scent of Instant Shine.
Huh.
I let it sit for a while longer, and turned to my father, who was driving me. (Yes. In Los Angeles without a car. Please understand my anger at DHL, please.) Everything that my father would normally say that would annoy the bejeezus out of me? Whoosh, over my head. As if I wasn’t in an agitated state to begin with. Where did my cranky ass inner monologue go, I wondered.
I’d sprayed the IS in the car, as I wanted a blind test subject who was in a similar cranky mood. (Freeway driving after an 8 hour shift + rush hour + having to go into downtown + my cranky self = cranky father, surely.)
“So dad,” I say casually, “how’re you feeling?”
He looks over at me–and he fucking beams, “I’m out driving, spending time with my only daughter–I’m feeling great!”
Okay, I’m thinking–scratch that hypothesis. I can’t tell if that’s the pheremones talking or not.
My father is an effusive character. Really. He’s like this half the time he’s not annoyed with me.
So…60/40 odds on my dad’s character.

The MX135 experiment
About half an hour later, I spritzed the MX135 three times: once on the nape of my neck, and twice on either side of my neck. I rubbed my wrists against the application points to further distribute the sprays.
I figured–one effect noted, why not go and try a complementary one? =)
I was headed for the Grove, a pretty nice outdoor shopping area, also known as the Gay Mecca of the West. (I spot more cute gay couples here on dates than in Boystown. True fact. =)
People were very nice to me. Usually, LA is a place where people have their own personal bubble: You have yours; they have theirs–let’s move on without the awkward business of realizing the other person exist, shall we? - sort of place. But I did notice more male attention; just that–attention. I was seen.
The guys working at the stores also seemed to light up just a bit when helping me, and the ones working the floor made sure to say hello–which, of course is their job but. Ok, at the Apple Store? I made about 5 steps each time before a different guy asked if I needed any help. On the same aisle. (I’m assuming they didn’t see the other guy ask…
)
I also had coffee at the indoor cafe at the bookstore and an old man spilled my tasty, tasty drink. =( Actually–my first thought was: SCORE! I wasn’t the cause of the accident this time! But he was a little senile and didn’t own the accident beyond the soft, “Oh.” when my ice coffee splashed onto the floor. I said don’t worry about it and I apologized to the nice girl who took my order, and was now forced to bring out the mop and bucket. She was really nice about it. When I went up to her again, a little sheepishly guilty, she offered a replacement drink. She insisted. SUPER nice…or pheremones? ![]()
Also got a couple compliments on my dress, which, I agree, fits me fabulously.
Did I seem more approachable? I very much work the “LA bubble”–really well, in fact, which is why I tested the MX135 first as opposed to the “Angelina” brand of sexiness.
But a caveat: Prior to going to the DHL office, I’d gotten dressed up. I’ve been cooped up and wanted to get out of the house! I missed LA weather so much–I put on a DRESS and HEELS and MAKEUP (I missed you!) when only a week before in the east coast, not an inch of skin would be peeking out for fear of frostbite. It’s not worth it to put on any damn makeup, you know? Frankly, I think this is the reason I got most…some? of my “hits.” People are nicer when you look nice.
But then again… I’ll try it out, see what happens. If the above happens to me when I’m scrubby and in plainer clothes, I’ll be convinced. ![]()
I also received MX250 (thanks!) so I’ll try that one after I get some more tests in with Instant Sexiness or MX135.
