Admittedly I am a food network junkie, which turned out to be a gateway show to Top Chef… With that said, any of you watch the new episode tonight? The idea was to make Amazing, Highly rated chefs their ‘last meal’ as requested. I was wondering what would your alls last meal be?
Me- Sushi appetizer, grilled Steak (rare to med rare) and asparagus still slightly crispy fresh and grilled, and for dessert well, creme brulee (sp). 
I almost never miss it, unfortunately, I had to be out last night and missed it. 
I’ll catch it the very next showing.
Bear, the more and more I read your posts, the more I like you. Me: Spicy octopus salad, sesame seared tuna app, rare ny strip steak with jasmine rice, and asparagus marinated in a peppery rice wine vinagrette, grilled to where they are cooked but still have snap to them. For dessert, cheesecake with fresh strawberries.
I am also a food tv junkie. Except when Challenge, and that goofy ace of cakes show is on.
Funny enough I went out for sushi tonight, and had some jasmine rice, and some seared tuna, AND some Seaweed Salad with a dash o’ octopus lol. I am a hardcore sushi lover, nigiri all the way! Though normally I go for Tuna tataki (sp) for an app.
Sadly after reading this, I would love some steak… booo to pregnant cravings. Though I have to say if I am going to crave things, at least I am craving good things lol, no Mickey D’s for me. The other day I darn near made bellini’s so I could have some creme fresh and caviar.
How far along are you Bear? I am the single father of that beautiful little lady in my avatar.
I am 5 months and a half or so. My due date is July 4th. This is my first, and I am excited and scared. A short version of the story is in a thread I posted on pregnancy and pheromones. It has been a journey and a half getting here.
Tonight’s the finale. Wonder which of the 3 will win.
Already can’t wait for next season.
Bah… I think Carla was the best chef… it’s really too bad she had an off day
Her problem is she let someone else decide her menu.
The sous vide was a bad idea - she didn’t know how it would marry with her sauce
I think the soufflé was actually a good idea - A good french chef would know how to make one… Carla just f’cked it up
I think that if the soufflé had made it onto the plates and was great Carla would have still been in the running - maybe not won it… but woulda been in the running
If she had done the meat in such a way that it had character to go with her sauce I think the complete disappointment that was her last dish would have still knocked her out by default
Therefore -
Carla lost because SHE messed up her souflé - something which she would know how to do… and the mess up could have just as easily occured had she made a tart
Especially since she had never done one before.
You have to remember the pressure of the finale, and Carla never did well under pressure. She simply forgot to turn the heat down.
