Is it just me, or is writing cards one of the greatest challenges life has to offer? I always see myself writing “Happy Birthday” or “Get Well Soon” or “I hope you get that mustard jar open.” The point is that I always seem to write things that are generic.
Usually I don’t really care what people think of my cards. Hey, I ran out to to spend about 4 hours in a damn Rite-Aid finding a card, that should be good enough, am I right?
Anyway - there’s a girl I’d like to go out with and I need to write something nice on the card. Does anyone have any suggestions?
EDIT: I’m sorry but I forgot to mention this: I am a rather timid person so I’d rather not take it too far like “Your birthday is just another excuse for me to appreciate how wonderful you are!” I don’t want to come out too strong.
Umm, I hate that too. How about, “You’re not getting older, you’re getting better”. Actually that might be kinda lame. I’ll have to think about it, let you know if I think of something
I was trying to think of an inside joke or something but it’s 2:30 am and I’d rather not take another 2000mg of caffeine and guarana. I am just having a severe brain-block right now.
HERE’S A FUN-FACT! In order for dolphin’s to stay afloat while sleeping, they rest only half of their brain at once!
I hate when that happens. Sounds like you need a nice cup of Chamomile tea.
Oh dear, I take that back…you need more than tea.
No, it’s not just you. I brain fart, too. Sometimes it’s hard finding just the right words. It requires thought if you’d like to impress her. Tell me, what kind of card did you end up choosing… a straight forward Happy Birthday card… slightly romantic…blank…humorous?..what’s it say…I gotta know. Any card that took 4 freakin’ hours to pick out must really say something.
Determining what to say depends on how well you really know her…or don’t. So, dish it, what’s the deal?
Anyways, without knowing…
To a beautiful girl, Happy Birthday, her name here!
Wishing you the best birthday ever!
Hugs and Kisses,
Kav
If you’re not comfortable with the Hugs and Kisses…
Thanks, Bella! Yea I may have exaggerated the 4 hours… more like 30 minutes. But I wound up choosing a “cute” card. It has a kitten staring into your eyes while hugging a ball of yarn. He’s also surrounded by balls of different colored yarn. It’s the kind of card that you look at and go, “Awwwwwww!” and somehow, 12 other girls will be perfectly in sync with you (that happens way too often to be a coincidence, do you gals plan that or what?). Oh yea and on the inside it says
It’s your birthday–
hope you’re up to your whiskers
in fun!
The thing is, I haven’t really said anything to her about a relationship or anything yet so saying things like “beautiful girl” or “hugs and kisses” may be a bit … awkward. I do really like your format though!
Does that really work, spraying pheros on cards and such? So when the person opens it, they will get whatever phero was sprayed, and then associate it with you?
i don’t want to go off-topic too far, but here is another example of pheromone usage (androstenone) on letters:
“In 1991 …researchers found that people who receive bills scented with androstenone …were 17% more likely to pay up than those who received unscented bills.”

A for format…lol. Well, content is far more important than format in this case.
So…no “beautiful girl”…no “hugs and kisses”…mkay…but " hope you’re up to your whiskers"…is good. Hmmm…I know it’s referring to the adorable kitten…but * cough *…oooo, maybe it’s just me and my degenerate mind.
And no, we don’t plan it. It’s like when one girl has to go to the ladies room, all of a sudden we aaall have to go. It seems to be innate and may be gender specific. Ask Xiphoid, she’s a doctor.
This question gets asked from time to time. The discussion in this thread may be of some interest -
My 18 year old son bought my 12 year old son a birthday card with a baby polar bear on the front… it was soooo… cute! Inside he wrote, "It’s just the right size to fit in the cannon. Happy Birthday!
