Which scent can Acqua Di Gio and Armani Code cover?

Apologies if this is answered somewhere, but it’s hidden so well, I can’t find it! Maybe there is a big thread on cologne covers too - If someone knows, please refer me to it!

Of the 6 fragrances (Neroli, Akuto, FF20, FF21, FF22, Grapefruit), which of these smell the most like Giorgio Armani’s Acqua Di Gio and Armani Code?

Another question is, which scent would be easily covered (mixed into a bottle) by these 2 colognes?

Grapefruit, in my opinion, is pretty strong. I got TAA with the light scented grapefruit, and it’s very noticeable. Grapefruit can’t be covered at all (unless you use like 5 sprays per application point, and even then, you might be able to smell it.) I kinda don’t like the smell either.

AMMO (I think it’s FF21, correct me if I’m wrong) and Akuto are both noticeable, but it’s not too bad. AMMO will be hard to cover up. Akuto may be a little easier.

Neroli is by far the easiest to cover. It’s got a really light scent, and it’s really not noticeable at all. Very easy to cover up.

I haven’t tried Armani Code, but I love Acqua Di Gio. It’s one of my favorites, but it’s way too popular. I’m currently rotating between Curve Wave, Curve Crush, P i Neo, and Cool Water, but I’m thinking of getting some more Acqua Di Gio and maybe some Eternity soon.

From what I’ve heard, Armani Code is stronger than Acqua Di Gio. Acqua Di Gio should cover up Neroli very well. I’m not sure how it’d mix with Akuto. Any other smells, don’t bother.

There must be a stack of threads on this one TBH! There are also quite a few “best cologne” threads :open_mouth: :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, I don’t know Aqua Di Gio but Code goes very well when layered with Neroli, F22 and supremely well with Akuto and the musk-modified Akuto in A314 oil.

And for mixing, I’ve done really well with Code for NPA, A1, MEO-EST and one ot two other pheros.

Eternity however is a bit on the weak/subtle side for mixing/covering and can’t hold much more than a small dose of none/A1 or cover anything other than Neroli.

Cool water has similar qualities to F21 and goes quite well but for me it also has some of the same irritation issues, so I don’t use it often, despite its undoubted popularity with women.

How does cool water do with covering up, that’s the cologne i’m thinking about buying

Now that mobo mentions it, I do see (err.. smell?) the resemblance between Cool Water and AMMO. Cool Water is pretty strong, just like AMMO. It covers up very nicely.

I like to think of Cool Water and P.i Neo (Have to put the dot, or it changes to Pi) as opposites. Not smell-wise, but strength-wise. P.i Neo is very soft and subtle. Almost like baby powder. You can use it to cover up, but you have to use more sprays. But then you end up being cologne-guy. And no one wants to be that guy! :stuck_out_tongue: Cool Water is almost harsh. Think of how strong AMMO is. Now just imagine that it actually smells good. That’s Cool Water. I put on 2.5 (some of the first missed, lol) sprays the other day, and went out to the movies. The first thing my friend said was “damn dude how much cologne do you put on?” However my skin was probably pretty warm from speed-walking to the theate (I was late)

So, Cool Water is strong and in-your-face, but it does smell very good. I don’t know if it’s suitable for the work environment though. Wear it if you want to stand out. Like at a club or some parties.

Thanks for all the input! I like Acqua di Giorgio because it is very gentle and smells good. I find it interesting to hear that every other person wears it since I rarely smell it out. Most likely it’s due to the types of places in go and ethnic make up. No one wears cologne or wears it lightly. Every once in a while I’d see a creeper drenched in harsh cologne like Axe sprays. From the sounds of it, I don’t think FF21 nor FF22 will fit my taste :frowning: Like skeptical described, I wouldn’t want to be asked how much I put on after 2 sprays. Maybe I can use custom neroli 2x Ammo and mix 50/50 with Acqua.

Sounds good to me.

Has anyone ever ordered AMMO in Akuto? I find that Akuto smells good enough to not need covering.

Yes, quite a few folk have Ammo in Akuto and report good responses. It will also be my way forward now it looks like F22 won’t be coming back.

So is cologne safe to spray over pheromones, wouldn’t affect the potency or anything big?

Perfectly safe and effective. Just leave a couple of minutes between each layer.

The only thing to remember is not to spray alcohol-base pheros or colognes over anything oil base (eg A314 Oil, SOE, Alter Ego etc) - That wrecks diffusion, so keep the app points apart there.

Cool water is a very good cover but as Skeptical says, its not an everyday scent. Good in clubs/hot and sweaty situations - Although in the UK, Cool Water does tend to be a bit like the adult equivalent of Lynx/Axe and you do tend to hit a wall of it when going to certain clubs/bars. Which is another reason I tend to wear something else.

Mobo hits the nail on the head…the scents mentioned in this thread (acqua di gio, code, cool water, etc..) are so so so common. They are nice, but they are very common.

I suggest you invest around $150ml in a bottle of something special from one of the chic boutiques, like Amouage, Tauer, Malle, Creed, etc..

More girls than not will come up to you out of sheer curiosity, in that they won’t have smelled such a scent before. Others will recognise the scent and recognise that the guy wearing it is unique from the rest of the crowd. Trust me, this is all from my own experience!

Good info; however, the scents are not common to areas I go (or maybe it’s the crowd). I went to a department store to take a smell of Armani Code and it’s a bit too musky - not something I like. While I definitely agree that something unique would peak interest, I would have to like the smell too and my nose is a bit too sensitive for most male colognes.

A bit more on topic, I’ve received my order of IS, IO, IH, Ammo, and TUTH. Looks like Acqua Di Gio would go well (lightly mixed or as cover) with the light (6%) neroli scent. Ammo, I’m not too sure about yet - have yet to use it.

Akuto has a nice (some say it smells cheap?) light musky scent as long as it is in 6%. I think 20% cologne strength would be a bit too much. I don’t think Acqua would cover that very well. Code would cover both neroli and akuto completely though.

I would always order everything in neroli - even the Ammo - as the neroli is very easy to cover.

That was exactly what I was thinking, but I heard that custom fragrance items cannot be returned and it was my first time ordering Ammo. Didn’t want to risk it.

Do you do the Neroli Ammo in Standard Strength or Light Fragrance?

If you intend to cover, go for the light scent. Even if you don’t you should probably order light anyway, unless for some reason, you really like neroli.
