Hi everyone! I’m posting an intro to get the gift certificate (just being honest) and pave the way for my stint here. I’m in the 28-32 year old age range
, a west coaster, and a huge nerd. I have always been interested in the “science” of personality and interpersonal relations and those cable TV specials on “The Science of Attraction” etc. So, that’s probably why I’m here.
Also, I’m pretty extraverted and like group activities and working with people (have a background in sales and event planning, which is probably similar to a lot of folks here?) so I love learning about how people tick and why we do what we do, consciously or not.
I first became interested in how scent affects us when I got into making home bath goods (like soaps, lotion, etc.) and aromatherapy in my late teens. Then my interest was piqued when I read that study about the scents that most “turn on” men and women - you know, wacky stuff like licorice and pumpkin pie. I always knew about pheromones but didn’t know you could successfully or accurately bottle them for human use. More than pheromones I’ve studied casually the effects of hormones and different elements in the blood and how it effects your mood and behavior. I guess pheromones are not too far off?
Two things about me that put a twist to my interest in pheromones.
- I can’t smell. No, really. I started losing my sense of smell in my teens and at this point I probably have maybe 50% of what you’re supposed to have. Honestly, I’m no complaining, because most things in this modern world that are strong enough to smell, you probably don’t want to be smelling.

However, I don’t think that alters the mood altering effects of scents (aromatherapy) and I don’t think it would affect my response to pheromones. Whether or not I consciously can smell something, I kinda think it’s tickling your neurons just the same…I guess we’ll see.
- I’m not straight. One of the reasons I haven’t really been interested in commercial pheromones before is that they seem geared mostly towards heterosexuals trying to attract the opposite sex. And I’m not knocking that at all, it’s just not something I’ve ever been motivated enough to drop cash for.

So how’d I find this site? Recently, I was looking into buying some home made scented products and somehow I came upon a pheromone website. Then I read how pheromones can have affects totally outside of typical ‘love potions’ and just have straight mood altering effects on the wearer. I was fascinated!
Basically, now that I qualify for my gift certificate (yaaaaaay!) I’ll be looking and probably posting a lot on how “male pheromones” work on female wearers and vice versa. And how those “love pheromones” work (or not) on gay users. I’m actually really curious about that.
Okay, nice to meet you! I’ll be lurking for a while! Can’t wait for my gift certificate!! ![]()
