WTF? Arrogant?
Lol. REFEREE TIME ![]()
Yeah arrogant came out of left field dude. I have never seen you that way nor have your posts led me to believe that you are. Jerk has brought out more of a charismatic vibe in both of us anyways! Don’t worry mikoto. Be happy!
No, no one has to referee here Rev. Because I am NOT arrogant, and really don’t feel like I have ever “rubbed” anything to someone’s face. Heck, I’m probably one of the nicest guys on here, and I seriously don’t see how he got that vibe from me when I have never even meant to be arrogant to anyone.
Seriously, your post doesn’t bother me because I know it’s hard to get someone’s true “vibe” over the net. So no problem, I’m not mad at you. I just think you do have temper problems though (plus you have me completely wrong.)
If anyone agrees with you, please let me know how I’m “arrogant” so I can word my posts differently because once again… I AM NOT one to not care about people (or be arrogant.)
Yeah, I know I’m totally surprised. If anything I have helped him in previous posts by telling him not to worry and that all it takes is patience. I have already mentioned to him that Steve does it every once in awhile, and that he had just finished doing it not too long ago. Shrugs.
Props Mikoto.
If this was true (if Mikoto was trying to do this)… it would sting. It’d hurt.
While it does not appear to be true given what Mikoto wrote and his history here, it would/did/still sting in this context, because Johnny perceived this as reality.
A perceived reality hurts just as much as a … well, heck, what do you call that, anyway? A Real Reality, I suppose! Heh.
The fact, though, is that Mikoto is a positive, generative user here… kind to others.. and the other fact is Johnny wants to be one, too, even if he did flip out a bit. He wants the same type of “status” people like Mikoto have, which is a positive endeavor. A good thing to strive for.
These are the only absolute facts I can ascertain.
There’s also a sort of amensia here about the nature of other people. That they’re here to do you harm, upset you, etc. Which, in fact, is not the case.
It’s a great crew here, better than average. It took a long time to build a supportive culture here. It’s a really stunning petri dish, you could say. The culture here is quite beneficent, and is strong enough to not be shaken when some mold sports come in.
Heck, even if you look at your neighbors randomly, most of them are good people. You wake in the morning, and look, wow – you’re not dead! Your neighbors didn’t slit your throat and drink your blood, even though each of them has more than enough knifes to do so. They even have enough examples on TV and within real looking video games. I’d say the fact that they don’t slay you and take your stuff is pretty darn nice, even if they do play their music and enjoy life a little too much sometimes.
You know, there’s actually very few people who intentionally cause others harm in the world. Yes, there’s a few… and we tend to put the very worst – the people so grotesque we couldn’t stand having even a fine dinner with them – into political jobs where we can see them (Stalin, Hitler, there’s many examples of the truly insane that we perhaps should’ve kept within choking distance)… but most harm from the greatest # of people out there (esp this forum, as we give the most malignant people the boot) is caused by…
… accident.
Oops.
“I hurt you.”
Or “you think I hurt you.”
“I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
“I’m sorry.”
So, guys… listen… especially Johnny… there’s nothing wrong here… to be a phero detective, you don’t have a “special status” or anything… it’s just someone who provides a lot of useful feedback to us, and to encourage that, we have a level whereby they get things more cheaply. And that’s that. Simple stuff. We reward the behaviors we like to see, and what we like to see here is for people to brazenly test things in interesting contexts, and give all the juicy details. Again, simple stuff.
Please understand that most people on the planet, especially the people here on the forum, are here to have a good time. On this forum, they’re experimeting with cutting edge technologies to make the lives of people around them better, including their own. These are good people.
Despite what you may have been told by some authority figure somewhere, you are deep down inside a good person. Period. The trick to life is – you just gotta remember to act like it on the outside, too, as much as you can. You have to remember to to reflect the real you – the good you, the playful you that you were as a child and still are today – in yor words, actions, and deeds.
The the real trick to life, and especially in communities like this where the good are rewarded for more than being “the squeeky wheel”, is to assume to the best of other people. To realize that when they offend in some way, it might just be a misperception on your part. It’s good to take a “time out” and reflect a bit when you’re offended.. because chances are, you’re reading something someone really didn’t mean.
Especially here in text. You really don’t get the full reality of anything in text. You get no voice intonation. You don’t see any gestures. You can’t see facial expressions… text is not the easiest thing, you know… that’s why there used to be famous writers. Even today, few people can really write exceptionally well. I don’t even think there are new famous writers anymore of the caliber of someone like Shapespeare or Kurt Vonnegut. The written word is suffering as much as the economy it seems.
As I used to say (and it’s still good advice), read the posts here in a happy, upbeat voice tone inside your head. If it doesn’t sound negative when you do that, it probably isn’t.
Now calling someone a prick or a fuckhead, even when it’s read in a happy and upbeat voice… well… that’s less ambiguous. That is pretty negative no matter how you slice it.
So if you were you, the real you, the best you… Maybe you might just kiss and makeup. Acknowledge each other as valid human beings who are each trying to best in this world… and even on this forum.
Hey, there are troubles with the text format for communication. That’s a given. You just gotta remember to assume the best of others, and read things in the most positive internal voice you can. You gotta remember the plot of life. To explore and have fun, and to give others the freedom to do the same.
KINDLY,
Michael
Well said MHarris
! A happy ending is always best and convenient.
Wow! EXACTLY MHarris, words get misconstrued and beat to a pulp over the net. I am definitely NOT a bad person, and if any of my posts/words have ever been typed out to sound negative I am sorry as this was not something I meant to do. I’m a guy who cares about people, and I always like to treat people the way I would like to be treated.
As mentioned, I am NOT mad at Johnny, nor do I care (or want) anything negative to happen to him. So this is just something I have shrugged off the few seconds after I have read his comment. It hurt, yes, but what are you going to do? You can’t show your true personality on line. That and even if it were in person, first impressions may matter to some but lasting impressions are the ones that are kept in your heart after you’ve known someone for a long time and have gotten down their true personality. I always like to skip first impressions, until I get to know someone REAL good before judging them.
Wow, three pages and this thread is only 8 hours old.
Wow…I must say…well I must say a lotta things…
In fact I don’t even know where to begin.
Well let me just apologize to everyone and in particular Mikoto. I regretted writing what I wrote and still do for a number of reasons that mainly were very well summed in Michael’s post (thanks much by the way and extremely true).
I am going to turn over a new leaf on that note and will be assuming no ill will out there and will be reporting my positive reports. Positivity will be the innertia behind my posts.
So once again, sorry to everyone, and I hope in time you all can find it in yourselves to forgive me and possibly one day forget about this.
Take Care Everyone and Kind Regards.
