On Saturday, I was invited along to a gig by two of friends (a couple) who were playing in the support band. The main act was not a star name but more a solid touring musician with a growing rep in the UK. The venue was a medium sized pub, that has recently moved over to a live music veune after a change of ownership.
Before going out, I applied:
A314 - Three drops. Neck, wrists and one to the front of the throat.
Instant Shine - 1x. Four sprays, forearms and side of head.
P83 - 10mcg in Akuto, 3 sprays, Forearms and back of head.
Then a skoosh of Azzaro Chrome to the throat.
Arrived around 8:30 to find my pals soundchecking, had a chat with them and got myself a table by the stage, opposite what later turned out to be the rest of the band and their entourage. One of my pals also took me to the bar and put me on the hospitality list - Free drink all night! ![]()
We then chatted a bit and eventually they got-up to play. It was an ok set, music not entirely to my taste but there were a few good songs. This is the first time I’ve seen them in this fairly new band.
Anyway, during the set, the singer was often looking over to me as I watched and at various times, I looked the other way and caught the eye of a fairly attractive woman sitting with the rest of the musicians at the table opposite - She was one of a pair, very well dressed, sitting with a younger, stunningly attractive, long dark haired girl and they looked quite out of place with the rest of the entourage.
After they finished the set, I piled out for a smoke and shortly after, the singer came out and joined me - Immediately, he started asking me all sorts about his performance and particularly how the sound was. Then the very attractive girl sitting opposite came out and we started chatting about all sorts of things, especially her totally unsuitable attire for the night - mini-dress and very high heels, when it was snowing hard! It turned out she was Irish, from Dublin and she let it slip that she lived very near the venue. I left her with a comment that she should stay out a bit longer because the snow catching in her long dark hair looked quite magical! ![]()
Anyway, I returned to my table, my friends had come out to join me and we had a drink and a chat. Eventually the singer came over and I was properly introduced, then the four of us chatted away for a while more till the main act started. Now his music was also not my thing but hell, this guy was good - A very talented musician and performer. Anyway during the set, I caught the eye of the older well-dressed woman a couple more times, very strongly and after a while, my friends had to leave, one was suffering badly from a cold and frankly needed a warm bed. I decided to stay and watch the rest of the set and shortly after, the singer came over and invited me to join them at their table.
I sat beside the singer and his partner and kept-on with the conversation. I thought I recognised his wife and yes, it turns out I did know her from somewhere - She still works for a firm I worked for quite a few years ago. Totally different department but we saw each other about. Meanwhile, the two smartly dressed women were listening-in and paying a lot of attention to me. So I turned my attention to them and found that the older one, who was by now leaning right into my face, was actually the Main act’s partner - oops! :o The Irish girl however turned out to be a random pub regular whom she had got talking to earlier in the day and had invited along to keep her company. She too was soon getting into the conversation avidly, leaning forward to me and showing all sorts of signs of interest etc.
Then when his set was finished, the main act joined us, we were introduced and he turned out to be, charming, very intelligent and a great conversationalist and listener. Once the last customers were out, a lock-in was started and we all had a splendid night talking about all sorts of things, intermittently going behind the bar to help ourselves or sampling one or other of the excellent cocktails the owners were lining-up on the bar, along with food. Meanwhile, the Irish lass was happilly sitting cross-legged on the bar beside me, looking-on with interest, joining-in and occasionally making me a coffee to keep me going.
All this finished about 4-5 in the morning when I walked the main act and his partner back to their hotel in thick freshly fallen snow, then a very long cold walk back to mine. There was no hope of getting a taxi at all!
