Can you heckle Lord Turner for me, just a little bit.

Must be a very special occasion!
Can you heckle Lord Turner for me, just a little bit.
Moderately special - Nice of them to not actually tell me who I was hosting until just before I got there! Guess they reckoned I could just wing it

And it was this guy - Hector Sants, the FSA CEO:
It seems that his family had some past connection with us and they have funded one of our projects which will bear the name. ![]()
I must say, he delivered an excellent talk, superb delivery, very interesting to hear and the dealings with the invited guests (collection of local business, banking and financial names) went as smoothly as I’m getting used to. Its actually quite fun to have some of them being so affable - because when I last crossed their paths in various jobs many years ago, they were a hell of a lot less nice to little people! ![]()
Just sat down for a coffee and whilst standing at the counter, a smart speccy woman in her late 20s/early 30s sitting just behind me turned right round in her booth to give me a good look, a big smile and then turned back to the older lady she was with and said in a voice far louder than needed - “I really like the look of him!” Pity I am bloody knackered and in greater need of coffee, painkillers, food, a stiff drink and to rest my sore foot till tomorrow when I’m working with Duncan Heath - who is Michael Caine/Maggie Smith/Daniel Craig’s agent and I have to fit-in a rather attractive plant biologist along the way!
Cool, you got the clever bloke rather than the politician.
I suppose they have to play nice now they’re in the press spotlight.
Surrounded by money men & clever speccy birds, sound like my perfect night out
(no, really)
Oh great - I’m being asked to host a Cardinal!
Any idea what pheros are good around men of the cloth.
This one is in the news just now for being a bit of a homophobe if that helps!
Today I am starting on what is certainly my biggest event ever - One of the biggest scientific events in the UK, expecting around forty thousand people from today to Sunday night.
And because my foot is still hampering things, I’ve been given just one part of it to run. The second largest/most important group of venues in the event - Oh gawd! ![]()
So far, its three drops A314, one drop each split between temples, side of neck and wrists. With one spray summer Ammo, for scent as much as anything.
So far I’ve been touring round my venues, which include a large gothic hall, a medieval chapel and a large, modern auditorium, oh and the Spiegeltent, if any of you know wht that is. Which has appeared on the lawn! http://www.spiegeltent.net/index.php
Most of the events today are low-key but building towards the weekend where we have some of the most stellar names in science and scientific media booked to appear.
When are you getting that operation? Health is more important my friend ![]()
Hopefully around the end of the year but maybe sooner. I have my pre-surgical assessment on the 13th of this month and normal procedure is this happens three to five weeks before surgery but at my last appointment the Registrar assured me that at the very latest it would be between 15th Dec and 15th Jan. So fingers crossed! ![]()
The secondary inflammation that has been affecting my shoulder these last few months is also almost away - I’ve got nearly full movement back and very little pain, with no sign of joint damage, so I’m feeling pretty relieved.
And the rest of the day went reasonably well - most events went off swimmingly and a colleague and I spent our lunch in the company of a smart and strangely accented chap I found wandering lost in the site - turns out he is a senior scientist for a major Canadian hydrocarbon operation and the only real upset of the day was when a major petroleum geologist and an environmentalist got into a standup row that was beginning to look like turning into a fight - in full public and TV cameraman view. I had to step-in and defuse it.
So day one survived, more to come tomorrow! ![]()
I’m having another WTF moment! - I’ve been invited to dinner with some of the high-ups from this event and the company includes a Government Minister, Head of an Oxford College and the broadcaster Prof Brian Cox! ![]()
I still don’t know how to write that week-up. Apart from the responses suggesting we had an huge success - one of the main organisers took me aside at one point to tell me how the last two hosts either failed miserably or provided only a very basic service compared to what we provided.
and this is just one of the bits of follow-up that has popped into my inbox:
And a majority of those twenty two came from the part of the festival that I was running! ![]()
I stuck to three drops A314 and one spray Summer Ammo throught, usually transitioning to a more sexual signature with variously, NPA, AE or more Summer Ammo as the days events wound down and the more social evening parties etc started.
And the webmistress for the organisers took a right fancy to me and we spent quite a bit of social time together! ![]()
And I had my surgical assessment a few days ago and it looks like I’m facing yet another delay. A good few years back I took a bad reaction to a sedation during wisdom tooth work - Despite my never having had a symptom/problem since, I now have to be given the once-over by another department before they proceed!

Wow great on hand, but upsetting on the last note. Sorry for the delay.
I’ll try and express in in pictures:

Remember this one?
Well, it has got legs!
World Whisky Day to be annual event - Features - Scotsman.com
absolutely loved reading your posts, matey!
It seems the bunch of very senior lawyers/Law Lords I ran an event for last year liked me.
I never got any feedback after the event but an email popped up today and it was them contacting me directly wanting me to run it again for them. So I suppose they were impressed! ![]()
Relating to an earlier post.
I think enought time has elapsed for me to safely post these:

I’m still wondering how in the blazes did I ever become a royal “Host!”

Just got an email - “Would you look after the Education Minister for a couple of hours on Friday.” This is getting too easy! ![]()
