In a recent post, I mentioned Autism Family Services of New Jersey (AFSNJ). In New Jersey, according to a 2012 report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) , 1 in every 49 people have an Autism diagnosis compared to America’s national average of 1 in 88 people. AFSNJ is a leading provider of family support services to the Autism population under contract with the New Jersey State Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD). The Trenton, New Jersey-based nonprofit holds the largest gathering of Autism families in New Jersey each year at the Annual Beach Bash in Belmar…

…The Beach Bash presents an opportunity for this community of families to gather in support of one another, to challenge society’s boundaries and mostly importantly to enjoy a day on the beach free of judgment. The event hosts an exhibitor tent of local and statewide services for individuals with autism, an activity tent with crafts, yoga and product samplings as well as a DJ for dancing and zumba. Lunch will be provided by Whole Foods of Middletown and the Belmar First Aid Squad for all registered families…
