aha... so this is an exercise machine ?

You be the judge… Brookstone sells them as tummy toners… uhhhh… right.

damn that sh*ts hot lol. are they serious about it being used for exercise?

HAH! I rode one of those at a Brookstone in the airport.

I found it quite ridiculous actually.

damn..sex sells.

Ahhh yep… Brookstone had one a these too

So I finish with the Vibrplate and am plain old high, endorphins or shock or loosened bile ducts (truly possible with that machine) and lo and behold, they have an iGallop as well… wacky looking thing… endorsed by Ron Jeremy ? Alright, since I need to chill out a little bit, I take a seat on the purple pod and switch on the electro horsie… and as much as I hate to say it, I really did like the sensation… however, I’ve been doing a large amount of Pilates related core development exercises so I rather instinctively (by now, after ages of practice) “knew” how to work with the motion pattern… the machine can work you but it can’t think for you… now that I ponder it, sounds a lot like pheromones… anyway, I’m trotting, cantering, galloping… and sure enough it is getting down into the deeper muscle layers and I’m sort of relaxing-focusing-leading in cycles… and the result of that was I did feel, and this is only after five minutes worth, maximum, a definite improvement all around my abdominal and lumbar muscle system… so when I walked down the street, there was absolutely a sexier, more focus roll to my walk that felt better, less lower back strain and moire front to back consciousness… overall substantially better than I imagined, I’d give this much maligned invention a thumbs up for anyone who knows how to actively use its capabilities… sexy ?.. no… sexy time not.

you know this reminds me of this one yoga class i took. now i should preface by saying i like my yoga pretty traditional, so this class wound up jsut not being for me (it was at a gym chain), but at one point the instructor had us all sit on resist-a-balls and essentially start grinding on them.

the room got a bit of a wierd vibe, and no one could look each other in the eye after that, but i’m guessing it was the same basic idea as the igallop.

I don’t know about you guys… but I’m not setting on one of these things!! lol

the motion is not as grindy or suggestive as the grindy, suggestive video would grindily suggest… I think they had good fun with that but the sexy motions are clearly a combination of editing skill, models who know how to accentuate the positive, and venal directors who will stop at nothing to move product… the bodily experience is a kind of twisting/rocking that makes you want to reach down into your abdomen for stability… it definitely isn’t a ball exercise equivalent, too may rapid changes for ball work… they also make a surfboard like thing which was pretty good but didn’t have the same sense of challenge… you could hang out and go with the flow on the board without having to activate too many core sections… the igallop can, if you choose it, help you dig in, I think after my limited experience… they tell me that serious users work it with weights… interesting thing… 15 minutes with that and a 12 lb bar and you’re probably all groovy walkin’

yeah i can see that with additional weight. You think your abs are gonna be sore at all tomorrow?

if so, it would be interesting to know where they are sore.

ok… now is tomorrow.. abs not sore, but did have an alexander technique lesson with a demanding teacher, real perfectionist this guy, and he’s finely attuned to these sub-structure body positionings… I was aware of shift from outer shell muscle use to a lot finer, deeper precision as we went throught the lesson… all of the things that ludicrous iGallop had me focused on, tilt here, tilt there, hold, release, hold, release, absolutely came into play as useful bodily information… funny how you discover this stuff all at once, as if the culture has absorbed bodywork ideas from the 1970s and returning them in a new form… so the iGallop may be not so effective as a pure muscular exerciser, for that a gym ball and a mean trainer what you need, however as a neuro-muscular coordination-timing-balance training aid, it’s really pretty damn good… possibly even for things like golf where you need to precisely aim with your center of gravity, dancing, balance related activities…

that’s cool. well as my weight-training gurus are fond of saying - muscle soreness is only an indication of muscle soreness. If it works your core tho, if only by retrainign it in how to hold yourself, that’s a benefit, that can definitely be applied all sorts of ways.
