This scent evokes the night in the deserts of ancient Persia. Imagine if you will a large silk Bedouin tent under the moonlight of a full moon in the desert by a Oasis
In the tent there is silk cushions and gold opulence that could only be for a Prince Of Persia. Placed around the tent are exotic fruits and flowers but what catches the eye is the gold incense burner. Plumes of exotic smoke are rising to the top of the tent, you look up and there is a hole in which you can see the full moon. You recognize the scent as Frankincense…
Wow what a exotic cologne I have never before smelled the like and have never before smelled Frankincense in a cologne before. It smells like dusty Frankincense resin with a spicy fruity blackberry accord running through its composition. Its sweet and floral with a light spicy feel to it which is mysterious and alluring.
I like this a lot for its rich ingredients and exotic nature, this would be a great night time going out scent for a man.
I also have a sample of Dia another scent from the exotic house of Amouage which I will review shortly.
It lasts quite a while on my skin but I agree with you on the sillage. Its a very exotic and unusual fragrance but very nice. I bet this scent is what Aladdin and Sinbad wear. Lol
Then they must smell good because Jubilation XXV is VERY yummy. Definitely not as dark, dirty (in a good way,) and strong as Monk but more appropriate for like the office or an interview.
You’ll love it, so be prepared to smell like you’re an Arabian prince being fanned by pretty women. The incense in this is very well done and subtle enough to not overpower like in Monk. Monk is more like dirty demons in an old castle type of incense wear as Jubilation is more like an Arabian prince.
I love the descriptions! I’m into ‘heavier’ scents like that so I am looking forward to getting this. I think I’ve already gotten about a dozen little bottles sitting on my shelf from Perfumed Court. I love being able to pick and choose from the decants rather than being stuck with just a couple huge bottles.
Great review Tommy369, I think you captured the scent perfectly and what I think about when I wear it. Amouage Jubilation XXV is one of my favorite colognes and in my opinion worth every penny (although it still hurts to spend that much money).
Sillage for me is average, not too big, but perfect at an arms distance. Also, it is good because as long as you don’t over do it, girls love to come close to you and smell it. It lasts a good amount of time on my skin.
I think the key words for this perfume are opulence and exoticism. Both done perfectly. Did anyone see the movie body of lies? I feel the character ofthe king of Jordan Hanni Salaam would wear this exact cologne.
it lasts a real long time for me I get at least 10-12 hours with 3 sprays, in fact if I do more then 3 sprays I become the cologne OD guy
I find the sillage is pretty good for me, I am glad I do not need more then 3 sprays because it is real expensive
DIA smells totally different, the problem I have with DIA is i cannot smell it after 2 hours unless I put my nose right into my wrists I love the way it smells, but to spend that much and to barely smell it is not worth spending
I like Jubilation a lot as well. I have the sampler pack with Monk, and wow is that a good description from one who has worn it. It is dank and musty, but interesting.
I have to admit that I would have a hard time wearing Monk out on a date. Dia, Relefections, Jubilations and Lryic are no problem, Gold is a scent I appreciate, but not one that I think is “me”.
Yes, Monk is definitely very good and mysterious. Definitely agree on it not being a good one for a first date, but a good one to wear if you will be out in the open like at an amusement park for example and you want your scent to stand out and compete with the scents in the atmosphere.
By the way denec, I never did get to hear what you thought about Monk. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it.
I dont think i ever tried Monk, only one i ever had was Winter Star at one point and kind of got bored of it after a while that I end up not using it anymore
How come? Too overbearing? It does seem like something that can only be pulled off better during Winter, and in a way I can see how the EDP strength of it can get too cloying. Still good though!
Monk is…different. It’s interesting, but something about it is too heavy, too un-cologne like for me. It is a nice scent, but it almost doesn’t smell like cologne. Know what I mean?
Well, my wife says it smells like an old lady to her. Is this what you mean? LOL. It smelling like an old lady who sprayed on WAY too much perfume? I think in a way that’s what’s interesting about it, that it’s er, different in a weird way. Almost like you don’t know what to think about it, but yet you still like it.
I wanted to give a review of Amouage Dia cologne but I have applied the sample generously to my wrists and neck and there just is no scent. Its weird I cannot smell anything, its like i have dabbed mineral water to my skin. This happened before with Creed Neroli Savauage sample i got from Les Senteurs.
So i have a dodgy sample, I wonder if they dilute the samples and the scent has vanished in the decanting process? Weird.
You know if I had paid a bundle for a full bottle of Dia and there was no scent I would be enraged. I will have to get samples of the others and I wonder what the new Amouage Epic Man is like.
Amouage Epic I do not like as well…I sampled it other day, and trying to remember the notes but it was not even worth remembering
I still find it odd that you cannot smell DIA just for a bit…to me it is a skin scent you should be able to smell something but it does not project at all,
not to get off topic but today I am sampling Montale Blue Amber and this is just breathtaking, one of the only few Montales I like, to me this is sexy, soft, powerful, and has projection, I wish I had more of my sample i used the rest of it
You know Denec I tried again and poured a lot of the sample onto my arm and dabbed a lot onto my neck. Again nothing, I must have a dodgy sample. I would expect at least a aroma of some sought of a scent but I get just plain zero.
I have heard a lot on basenotes about Montale and especially Black Aoud. I will have to try to get a sample of Montales Blue Amber. You know this fragrance hobby is getting expensive because no sooner than you have purchased one scent you want another. Lol
I started with Creed and then bought a bottle of Cuba from Czech & Speake and now I am looking into Amouage and want to try their range. I’m thinking it over whether Jubliation is worth a full bottle because I really like it. But I also want to try Serge Lutens Fumerie Turque as well as the Tom Fords Vanille Tobacco and it just goes on and on.
Denec do you find that with fragrance that the more you try and buy the more you want. Lol
