I had something similar happen, Steve. You try to come up with a logical reason for that behavior, and none is there. This is why I’ve decided that I’ll probably never tell anyone I’m seriously using pheros again.
I mean, sometimes the reaction is funny. The biggest one I can think of is when my ex used to swear up and down that they had no effect on her, yet almost like clockwork, I could wear them and we’d have sex-- both pre- and post-divorce. Granted, there was the connection we already had at work there, and I knew what turned her on. Still, it was almost supernatural how quickly the conversation could go from “How was work?” to “OH MY GOD! YES! YEEEESSSS!!!” just with a spray or two of TUTH, for instance.
But then, there’s the attention-seeker like you described, who had no concept of discretion, and who would make a legitimate experiment in social relations a farce just by acting out like that.
So, my advice to people who worry about getting busted is try not to get busted. Wear a good cover scent. If they can smell pheromones and can identify them as such, just play it off with “Yeah, a friend of mine gave me this body wash that was supposed to have pheromones in it. I tried it out just for the hell of it.”, then steer it into a joke, “They effecting you? Huh? Huh? wink”
I’ve never been too worried about anyone detecting pheros on my person, as he/she’d pretty much have to be a user as well to identify the smell. In that case we would likely regard it a common secret both would be just as eager to keep.
Although one of the two guys that know I’ve ever had mones did ask me if I wore any on saturday night. We are old friends but also do business together. I’ve done some welding and assembling jobs for his company and on the party where we were now, he was praising me as the second coming of Jesus. The best damn craftsman he’d ever met.
After he’d been touting my greatness to everyone present and thoroughly kissed my ass, he told me “I don’t know if you’re wearing some of that voodoo juice right now or what the hell this is, but you’re just so damn awesome”.
I said “Hell, no. I stopped using it long ago. It works, but not well enough to justify the cost. It was fun to try, but it just barely has some minor effects”.
What I am worried about however, is that some day one of these deliveries catches the eye of some curious neighbour or friend that happens to be around.
So far DHL only came all the way to my workshop once and my father got the packet. He’s not nosy though so he just put it aside for me to find.
The other times DHL have called me and I’ve gone to their facility to pick up the stuff myself. A much preferred thing for me. The packet has had only my first name and phone number written on it, so they couldn’t deliver it here even if they wanted to. I love that privacy and hope this continues.
