Approach Anxiety, Birds, Bees, Friend-Zoning, and things that you should know.

Let’s face it, gentlemen.

Approach Anxiety is a bitch.

You’re out having fun with your friends at a bar, grocery store, coffee shop, or wherever, when all of a sudden, you spot this tantalizing, living, breathing, walking sex machine and she’s the hottest thing that you’ve ever seen.

Your pulse races. You feel the sweat trickling down your brow and you feel the lower portion of your body go into overdrive.

Your friends encourage you to go talk to her…to go say…something.

You hesitate.

What if she has a boyfriend? What if she’s taken? What if she thinks that I’m boring? What if, what if, what if???

Suddenly, you’re too afraid to do it.

You’ve given yourself some reason in your head why you won’t approach her, and then shrug it off as if it wasn’t worth it to begin with.

Problem is, YOU KNOW BETTER.

You wind up going home alone, wondering if this girl could have been an awesome girlfriend, or maybe the hottest, most crazy, intense sex that you’ve ever had.

THE TRUTH IS, WE’VE ALL BEEN THERE.

Even the master pickup-artists, social dynamics gurus, and naturals have been there on one occasion or another.

They’ve felt the fear, the paranoia, and the anxiety.

But where does it come from?

Here’s where.

It comes from instinct.

Inside all of us, we have a deep seeded fear of rejection.

It’s the fight or flight mechanism that is used for survival within the animal kingdom, and we all have had to deal with it.

It’s also a way that nature will keep you out of reproducing in her hot, steamy genepool of sex if you take ‘flight’ over ‘fight’.

I know, you’re thinking… “Nature isn’t fair”.

Life isn’t fair. Toughen up.

There are hurricanes that attack major cities, earthquakes and tornados that rock the world.

But through it all, there are the SURVIVORS.

They’ll do anything to stay alive, and no one will stop them.

They’ll take matters into their own hands, and lead people out of the destruction, dominating Mother Nature and spitting in the face of the odds.

These same types of people - the Alphas - were your ancestors.

If they weren’t like this, you wouldn’t be here today.

They had the gumption and fearlessness to conquer approach anxiety - to conquer mother nature’s most sacred process - and to ***WIN.

The problem starts when men put women on a pedestal.

When this beautiful, amazing goddess of sex that you’ve spotted in the earlier part of this post is put on a pedestal, you’ve already been beaten by mother nature… and even worse, you’ve been beaten by the strongest of foes that you will ever face…

YOURSELF!

You’ve put someone on a pedestal that has to take a bath just like you do.

Someone that gets sweaty, has to shave, urinates, and takes a big old poop…just like you!

Yes, even beautiful women poop. Something to remember when you see that ‘unapproachable goddess’.

She’s a person, just like you… not some prize that the average chode is going to be considering her… offering to buy her 400 drinks so he can buy her affection.

Do you realize how many guys have offered to buy her a drink? Do you realize how may times that she has heard stupid pick up lines?

She has to deal with afc’s and total chodes everywhere that she goes, so you’ve got to stand out in some way.

How?

YOU’VE GOT TO BE HER EQUAL.

With rare exception, women aren’t after money.

Yes, you heard me.

They don’t want a guy that tries to buy them.

They want a guy that produces comfort, attraction, and sexual tension.

Also one who isn’t afraid to walk over and take a chance.

WHICH LEADS ME TO YET ANOTHER POINT…

And this is going to be something that some of you hate to hear.

SHE ISN’T LOOKING FOR A ‘NICE GUY’.

I’ll explain, so listen closely…

You’re probably thinking ‘What woman wouldn’t want a nice guy?’

The problem is as simple as Mars & Venus.

The male and female definitions of ‘Nice Guy’ are skewed. They don’t line up in the way that you are thinking.

When we men think of a ‘nice guy’, we think of someone who is a provider, who will agree with her almost all of the time, and who listens to all of her complaints and worries like you’re Oprah friggin’ Winfrey.

The thing is, most of those guys wind up in the FRIEND ZONE!

“BUT HOW?”, you might ask, as you were being a very NICE GUY!!!

How?

HOW??

You have basically become her emotional tampon. And you’re still asking ‘HOW?’

The truth is, women may want a man who can take care of them sometimes, but they don’t want a guy who can’t keep a bit of mystery to him. Women want a guy who has a life of their own, and wont be stuck up their ass 24/7. A guy who is flirty, funny, sexy, and manly, but knows how to ‘push their buttons’ so to speak.

The problem starts in the beginning, and a lot of the time it comes from the same place as… YEP, YOU GUESSED IT…

*APPROACH ANXIETY!

The same fear of walking up to a woman to introduce yourself..

That same fear that makes excuses…

Is the same one that lands you in the friend zone.

I hear it time and time again from women… “Oh, so and so is a great guy, he’s really nice..” But they’d never give him a shot in hell because he just doesn’t push the buttons.

And then, way down the road when the guy finally tells her he’s interested, he’s already been relegated to ‘girlfriend’ status and there’s little chance of backtracking.

The number one reason?

He never states his intention from the get go!

Later on, the self-proclaimed “nice guy” becomes frustrated, angry, maybe even vindictive, and isn’t such a nice guy anymore.

It can be as simple as a naughty look early on.. as simple as a few flirtatious comments, and that can change the WHOLE GAME for you and her.

But you can’t let fear be your master.

Live for today.

Be a survivor.

The spoils and rewards are great, and rejection is irrelevant.

You are just as much of a prize as anyone else.

Chris

Ohhhh brow! Totally agree with you, I loved your post and as I was reading it, I could remember a lot of things that as u said, “we all have been there”.

Also I remembered something a friend from Ukraine used to tell me, he said “Man, when I see this hot chick, and I get scared to approach her, I imagine her taking a poop and I the fear just goes away… I mean, we all shit right?” hahahahaha

Greetings man!

Thanks man

Another good piece of advice I’ve heard… “Before you approach, picture her taking a poop. When you start talking to her, picture her in bed screaming your name.” It’ll put the craziest smile on your face, and it’ll be a warm, inviting, and genuine smile

Oooohhh yes! That was a great one! I think I’m going to use that one tonight… I mean, the first part I knew it, but the second one? hahahaha gonna love it!

Please remember to keep these types of posts and anything else not pheromone down in the lounge. I have moved it

Darnit Steve, I just can’t believe the way that ya MOVE ME like that! snicker

Its a great post, but this is a pheromone forum. As such all non-pheromone posts belong in the lounge.

Gracias

Awesome article for those guys who need the extra motivation. To those who have approach anxiety, just remember that when you hesitate for a moment you’re giving up what could be days, weeks, or even months of happiness. I too get the approach anxiety, actually quite alot lol, but I try to get over it because I know that the payoff is often worth it.

Just make sure you don’t harden up while imagining this hahaha jk.

Great post, although I will disagree with fear of rejection being a human trait we are born with or from the flight or fright instinct. Fear of rejection is learned. We are born of one state really and that is of well being. Its the time we are the most in tune with our souls. We do have a startle reflex which is part of our natural protection but fear of rejection is learned.

Most people are afraid of the word no. It has negative connotations. We think its a reflection of us when really its a reflection of the person saying it.

It simply means “I dont want to”. The problem is we tend to put reasons behind the word. … They must not like me… They think I am ugly… I said the wrong thing… etc etc when in most cases they are not even thinking about you but something totally different.

Stop fearing the word no. I know that can be hard because its been drilled into most of us since we could crawl by our parents. “No dont touch that” “No dont put that in your mouth” “No stay where I can see you” all that was really about there fear of what would happen if you did those things. So we connected the word no with the word bad and now when people say it to us we feel bad.

It just means “I dont want to” even when our parents said it. They didnt want to feel what the thing you were doing made them feel which was scared.

When you say “I dont want to” to someone it means just that. It doesn’t mean you dont like them or you think anything about them. It just means you dont feel like it.

Stop putting reasons behind the word. No does not equal bad. Rejection which is a form of no is not about you either. In almost all the cases if speaks of how a person feels about themselves at that given moment.

For now on try replacing the word “No” with another word. Like pickle. Seriously, thats what we used. Crazy I know LOL

Pickle dont touch that. Pickle dont put that in your mouth. Pickle stay where I can see you. Pickle I dont want to go to the movies. After a while your fear of the word no will disappear as you realize its just a word that conveys someone else’s wants and needs and its not a reflection of you.

Whats the worst thing that can happen when you approach someone ? They can say pickle. Its a little silly to be afraid of that.

I know it sounds crazy but I taught this method to both my sons and while it doesn’t solve all problems they have no fear of rejection now. In fact we joke about it so often now. I will ask him if he cleaned his room and he will say “Pickle mom, I will do it when I get home” I cant help but laugh and it really changes the way I feel about what he hasn’t done yet. He is not rejecting it or what I am telling him to do he is just doesn’t want to do it yet. Its not about me its about him.

The thing is that the masculine experience of female rejection is different from the feminine experience of rejection for reasons of long experience in small groups. If a woman is rejected by a dominant man, that is not the end of the world. If a man is rejected by a very attractive woman, his standing with both men and women falls. Reframing it may help, but some reframes may be better than others.

From what experience has taught me, it almost has an aspect to it that has to do with validation. It seems like it’s the ultimate triumph when we game it to an attractive woman and actually get somewhere with her. Whether it be a date, ONS, or a hook up, we can feel that we have “done something right”.

However if you look at it differently, if you “do you” and go out looking to enjoy yourself and have fun, these things will come naturally. The state that you’re in, which is a lot of what trips up guys I know, is a big determining factor in the whole “pickup” game. I started to notice this years ago and eventually able to make more sense of it during my time here. I’ve noticed that when I went out, my friends whom just went out had fun and cared about themselves and didn’t worry what other people would think picked up more women naturally. The charisma and carefree nature attracted a lot of girls than the guys who were standing around with the “look” that we all know. Off hand the guys that had the “look” you would think that they could score any girl they want. Which by just standing there they were able to score some pretty good looking chicks. However, you know that in the law of numbers, that’s probably not even enough to take advantage of the pool of women out there. Long story short, the guys that I know that are average looking, but with clear mindsets and secure egos have met many more women than some of the better looking and established guys I know because of the fact that inherently, women want someone who is interesting, who captures their attention, who is a challenge, and isn’t clingy.

I think that you do need conversation skills to get the ball rolling, and know about the basics of pickup, which a lot of the good books teach. However I strongly believe that being comfortable in your own skin should be the first thing that you should learn to be. Steve said it best that you shouldn’t neccesarily try to “improve” yourself but you should focus on the qualities that you have. You shouldn’t be living your life and your values based on what is perceived to be the right way, you should do it with how you feel it should be and what feels right to you. That’s the biggest part and should be the first step.

Thats because people tend to look for someone else to validate them and the only person who can validate you is you. Its not the actual rejection that frames a man its how he reacts to that rejection. If you make it important then it appears important to others as well.

The “bad boy” persona we often talk about here proves my point. They really dont give a crap what others think and in doing so they validate themselves.

So much good can be gleaned, when one reads these two quotes one after the other.

And if you think of her pooping and smiling at the same time - Well, you may want to explore some more specialist forums! :open_mouth:
