Are pheromone users socially challenged?

Well it makes sense that if we looked into pheromones in the first place we were attracted to it for a reason but I wouldnt say its because we are all social retards LOL. I think its different for each person.

Some people are shy
Some are just looking to up there advantage
Some like myself want to spice up a relationship they have already.
I can think of many reasons.

For myself I am very outgoing and self confident so I really dont need mones for that. I went to a passion party (you know were they sell certain toys  ) and they sold mone products and when I got home I looked it up on the net and ended up here. I like to keep things spicy in my marriage so I figured what the heck and its been great fun. I think it as just one more tool to help liven life up.

Dear Jasmin,

“I’ve met some real, bona fide social retards who get into pheromones, and frankly, they’re the people who aren’t successful with them at all.”

In response to this comment I must say that you are partially right and partially wrong. In my experience, I truly believe and have observed that everything about you must be one thing or another (every signal you send must be consistent with everything there is about you). If anyone plans on using pheros, being a social retard, you must complete and fill up the entire
picture about yourself correctly -> you must change your face and your expressions, improve your communication skills, improve posture, wear better clothes, become pshycologically confident, etc…as -mones just help more as succesful people are even more successful with them.
It is another ingredient in the battle we fight every day… another weapon but in order to win the war and conquer the enemy you must have lots of weapons to intimmidate and lt the enemy know that you will win no matter what, not just one waepon. Otherwise, others will percieve the OD effect: the “that does not make sense at all”.

Pheros help, they are not magic. You can turn them into magic if you balance all other ingredientes in the right proportions… pheros add the great finale.

As for myself, I definetely know there is some phero problem, and I am not joking, as for some reason people usually get a double picture of me: many respect me for my ideals, my authority but I fail to “smell right”. There is something about me that does not “fit in”… I will tell you how I discovered that… good in-house experiment but it cost me money.

My brother is on the other side of the equation: he is skinny, shy, quiet, has no idea how to dress (even though he lives in a Colombian city, he dresses like some US mountain farmer: jeans, boots, and squares t-shirts) and he always gets all the girls without spelling a sinlge word out of his mouth and even so when we are at college together some female friends of mine sent with me very potent “His” to him…

There is no amount of “pheromone magic” a person cannot sabotage if they screw up relating to someone enough. You only get the benefit of the doubt so long. Social skills are necessary, of course, though it is possible to stumble into some things by accident, you don’t want to depend on random chance. “Congruency” is another, related issue.

A note on congruency:

A big problem I’ve noticed is that while women often give me attention, chances, and intial positive response to my acts of initiation, I need to continue to act congruent to their expectations of me, based on the phero-persona I’m projecting. Otherwise their attraction fades. This is ultimately easiest to do if your “phero enhancement” matches what you can deliver on a consistent basis.

Your pheromone persona has to be compatible with who you are naturally, and how you act in the moment, down to the last detail.

Stop trying; stop exerting yourself; stop the effort; and just be yourself.

I’m not saying don’t act, just act with your own grace, and not effort.

Then, you can adjust your products to make it easiest to just be yourself.

Also, keep in mind you have to execute some social skills. The silver lining to this cloud, for the socially challenged, is that the right pheromones make it easier to practice social skills, by controlling your personal environment to some extent.

Awesome post. You’ve summed just about everything I wanted to say here.

PRICELESS advice.

Hey now! I resemble that remark!

A provocative but misleading question

To begin, I say this topic is framed with an asinine question. A trick question, an elegantly stated question, but an asinine question nonetheless.

Why is it utterly silly to ask “Are pheromone users socially challenged?” Because every human being that draws breath is socially challenged.

Yeesh! Demerits to all who were sucked into trying to directly defend pheromone usage from this covert/underhanded but still (IMO) blatant attack. Why? The OP clearly signals his intent with the preemptive denial “I am not having a swipe at the pheromone community …” He most certainly was, I say. I say he’s already made his position on phero-usage clear … as clearly as I can imagine him laughing at the stress he’s provoked.

Trust me, ladies and gentlemen, if there was no challenge in designing, strategizing, and executing social relations, campaigns, and affairs, the Sudoku market would be much bigger. (I.e., we would find other entertainments.)

I am socially challenged, and I like it that way. No challenge = hellish boredom. I submit that the first step in learning something is to admit you might not know everything. Excuse me, but playing with pheromones is both FUN ~and~ EDUCATIONAL.

I have plenty of social challenges ahead of me, and being rankled by trolls comes fairly low on my list of priorities. I’ll admit that I don’t like seeing my friends abused, so this will be my only response to this thread. (I think of this essay as a warning to my friends of a con game/fraud being dangled in front of them rather than as a position statement in the argument the OP started.) Tell me this: when someone mischievously fakes a cry of “Fire!” in a crowded theatre, do you argue with him to prove there is no fire, or do you pound his face into mashed potatoes?

Perhaps an administrator will lock this thread at an appropriate point.

PS on a more scientific note, since this is the “theory” subforum: The OP hypothesis can be rejected with one counterexample, right?. Someone try to tell me, please, that tactitus is “socially challenged” in the sense of being incompetent in human relationships…

Walks away laughing and shaking his head

I can’t comment on the mens rea behind the original post, but it seemed like a legitimate question to me. And as you can see, the question is being answered by the responses. There are those that use pheromones to enhance the social gifts that they already have and those who use pheromones in the hope that they will bestow additional social gifts.

From your point of view, yes, it is probably true that everyone is socially challenged in some way, but a large number of responses support the view that pheromones work best for people who are already skilled at coping with social challenge.

Wow… that’s a term I hadn’t heard before and had to look up on wikipedia. Are you a lawyer by any chance, Kilroy?

That obvious huh? I should have just said “state of mind.” Now everybody’s going to hate me and I’m going to need gallons of Instant Shine to repair the damage.

You might as well ask if women who use make-up are socially challenged. From others’ comments, however, you got the opinions you sought – I suspect. The biological facts support the opinions. Virtually anything you do to improve your physical appearance will help in nearly any social circumstance. Pheromones directly improve your physical appearance by influencing levels of hormones that change when someone perceives you more positively. Comparitively speaking, make-up benefits women by making them appear to have higher estrogen levels; male pheromones make men appear to have higher testosterone levels – and sexual preferences are about the differences in levels of these hormones (and their metabolites).

i enjoyed how this thread from beginning to end evolved.

i wouldn’t say as a general rule that I’m socially challenged. Actually I’m prolly far from that. but i did start experimenting with pheromones because i felt awkward with someone.

… and then we find out Bronzie actually made a wallet for his pheromones

I already had lots of friends and was getting laid a reasonable amount before I started using pheros. The thought of being able to customize and control people’s perception and impressions of me was intoxicating.

Well, id have to admit that im one of those people that are more then normally socially challenged,
Im fairly good looking, but much to technically minded, and much, much to shy for my own good.

my disability mostly shows as me being to shy to initiate conversations with strangers.
(except when im wearing my greenpeace t-shirt and trying to get people to help with the good cause, but im guessing im mostly confident there becouse i know beforehand that they arent going to stop anyway)

I usually have atleast 1-2 girls that i talk to somewhat often, and even some flirting now and then, nothing sexual has ever come of it though.
but as my first bottle of pheromones hasnt arrived, i dont really count yet.

Bronzie i think i am one fine upstanding example of one of the losers and retards that you have come across in real life who uses pheromones, and there are some that would regard me as a social loser.

I have just come logged on to the forum and in so doing i was invited in writing to come in and participate and say a few words, so this is the purpose of my post, and this is a good starting area i feel.

I actually feel it a priviledge to be posting amoungst so many of fine and knowledgeable people on the subject of pheromines and life, and there seems like there is no separating the two.

I have read most of the comments and posts on this thread and would say you have stirred up a hornets nest.

It is really interesting to fathom just where each person is coming from with their responses, facinating actually to see the personalities expanding.

Well it seems that we are all who we are and really its kool,
Because at the end of the day we are who we are. ha ha
For better or for worse, but circumstances change so rapidly and so do we, even though it seems slow.

In one respect we are all taking the same ride on this ball of carbon surrounded by a layer of oxygen and flying throughout space at breathtaking speeds so it seems. Man it is one hell of a great adventure aint it hey ha ha .

Isn’t the pheromone experience experiment a great and wonderful phenominum ?

We could all rather be making wooden dolls and sticking pins in them when ever our toes were trod on i suppose.

Or embarking on an exciting project in scrapbooking

What about sticking together plastic warplanes with superglue ?

How about making poison to put in crisp red apples

I am sorry, as only a deviant could think of sutch things as i have said

Never the less i enjoy being the deviant that i am and i enjoy mixing and matching Pheromones and i like good vanilla ice cream and tropical fruits and women, last but not least yum yum

Socially challenged? I’d say so personally. All of Life is a challenge though too. I think most all of us feel we have some shortcomings. Whether they really exist or not. Finding a “weakness” and seeking to improve it keeps life interesting to me. Expanding one’s knowledge base is good too. The subject of pheromones is one of those tidbits of knowledge. Like Socrates I seek to learn “one more thing” even if I were to die tomorrow. Keep moving forward.

Amd yes the original question was a little “loaded” but it did succeed in getting a discussion going now didn’t it? And thankfully without a whole bunch of flaming…

My opinions.

I can definitely agree with that. If one excels in one field then they may find themselves needing improvement in another field, its all about balance. If its not 50-50 then it very well be 70-30 etc etc.

Take me for example, I spend alot of time thinking about the social game and why it works the way it works. I may know this and that about social game in general but sadly lack the ability to implement it, I excel in thinking but I lack in doing.

To be honest, I think a good portion of the people who are “socially challenged” are not socially challenged at all. When you are surrounded by ignorance on a day-to-day basis, it gets a little pointless to initiate conversations that will go absolutely no where. I learn more about people by observing how they interact with others than ever by actually interacting with them first hand. Perhaps that’s because I’m surrounded by people who are in the Rat Race, and not by people who are open minded and driven by their own open mindedness. I’m quite fed up with the socially conditioned minds that you meet on a day-to-day basis. Nothing ever gets past the incredibly dull small talk that is utterly painful to endure. The point for me to interact with people is to learn something from their experience and thought patterns, but for the most part, there is usually nothing more than I can observe by their actions. The whole social “game” is ridiculous, but of course, if you want to ever get to know somebody, you have to push through all of the bullshit by lowering inhibitions, persuading others that you’re different from the rest, and finally building onto the rapport already established. I say roughly 7 times out of 10 it leads no where. Unfortunately, we are social beings, so living life as a lone wolf can only get you so far. That sucks, but it’s life.

mindset has a point. When you are one of those whose IQ is a little higher than the average you find things can get pretty boring when dealing with what one of my friends calls “the masses.” I suspect most of us here are at least a bit more open-minded and intelligent than many.

It’s tough for me to deal with typical “office politics” and water-cooler babble I admit. I have yet to watch American Idol, could care less about Next Top Model, or whatever… I’ve even pretty much stopped watching/listening to the “news” programs as I couldn’t care much less about all the “Big Stories” concerning Paris Hilton or some dopey sports or Hollywood celebrity. What some consider “social activity” resembles typical “office rat race” drivel with it’s pointless game-playing, whining, back-stabbing, gossip, etc… yuck.

Exactly. I’m far from perfection, but it’s difficult to hold a conversation with somebody who is programmed, and refuses to think for themselves. I admit that I should probably embrace small talk on the more intelligent level, but even that is difficult as I’m a heavy deep thinker. I guess that explains why I’m choosing Psychology as my major, instead of accounting - analyzing people is what I do for fun, and even moreso when I’m the subject. There are some things that I enjoy that are of interest to the average person ala sports, music, movies, and some television shows. I rarely can carry a conversation about those interests for longer than a few minutes, then it’s time to move onto something more profound. Building relationships is another goal of mine which is impossible if I’m not on the same level as other people. Perhaps I need to expand my boundaries, and try to level with them. It is something I’ve tried to do, and will continue to work on it. I know one thing is for sure, I will never befriend anybody who participates in office politics, and the pointless game-playing, whining, back-stabbing, gossip, etc. Those childish antics can be had for another individual. It’s sad, because when I left high school, I thought I was leaving those kind of people behind. Ha. At times I think high school students are more mature than a lot of adults out there.
