do you think pheromones would help people with autism, or at least asperger’s syndrome. I’m wondering if something like some -none, some instant shine, and some openess could help with social cues or at least interacting in a new way? Just curious
I know a woman with Aspergers, and an EQ of 30, who does reasonably well socially. She cannot read faces or feel what is right to do, so she basically has an amazingly large set of rules of what to do when. It works pretty well for her and at that point, I think pheros would help. However, if you are very awkward socially, you need to work on that first. Pheros are only 10% of the total picture and it wont be too congruent if you act like a doofus.
Yeah I don’t have autism I’ve just been studying it recently. I guess another question would be to people w asperger’s and autism put out similar pheromones or lack a common pheromone overall, of course it will vary from person to person.
hi,
great topic. As part of my job I work closely with a boy with autism and the severe social problems that come with it. im not sure that pheromones would do a great deal to help… the only thing i could see would be perhaps some a314 or IG to help them gain a bit of respect from their peers. the biggest problem with austistic spectrum disorders is that the person appears mostly normal and so their sometimes abnormal behaviour is seen exactly as that- abnormal and they therefor are targeted by bullies (im talking in a school here). unfortuntely in my experience there is no quick way to help these kids, only repeated social training etc.
the instant shine though is a good thought, especially if it helped them come across as more friendly or fun, however congruence would be a big problem as their pheremonal signature would not neccessarily match their behaviour.
On television there was this woman with an autistic child. The child had an eating disorder, which was so severe that he was seriously near starving to death. In desperation the mother finally started feeding him “special” brownies about twice a week. Not only did he start eating better, but he became more socially appropriate and conversant. She said it was like having her son back. I think this was on Doctor Oz or The Doctors or one of those afternoon shows. Apparently, others have reported similar results. Pretty amazing if marijuana is the cure for autism.
