This thread is really good. It’s great that it got resurrected 6 years later. I noticed an abrupt change in myself, when I got laid for the first time after a prolonged, Sahara desert-like dry spell. I found myself going through the following stages, and I suppose it’s no different for most men. I don’t know if that means my testosterone spiked or dipped, but keep reading and draw your own conclusion.
The right-after stage is Stage A. The A stands for “afterglow”. That’s when you’re lying in bed, with your arm around your new lady friend, thinking “ohhhhh… yeeeeaaaaahhhh…” Or, you might think: “That’s right! Who’s da man! I’m da man!” Worn out from the activity, you conk out and fall asleep, and decide to worry about the morning awkwardness later.
First Stage is the cloud nine stage. It’s exactly that: You’re on cloud nine. It last from 24 hours to up to 5 days. You feel like Superman, ready and able to leap over tall building and stop a tidal wave with one hand. Any challenge you run into, you overcome it smashingly. Or if the challenge overcomes you, you feel good as new within minutes.
Second Stage is the nonchalance stage. You no longer feel invincible and super-human, but still super-happy. Nothing can faze you. People may crack jokes at your expense, but you just smile and mumble: “whatever…”. Time passes. You go about your life as usual. But something feels different. Trees look greener. Cars let you into their lane when you try to merge.
Third Stage is the sex munchies stage. You’ve finally come down from your high. You no longer smile at random moments. But you feel more “hungry” than before. Instead of those “why bother!” thoughts when it comes to approaching women, you feel highly compelled to do so. Not only that, you somehow feel sure that you’ll get good results if you take action.
Finally you reach Stage N. N is for “normal”. You’re back to how you normally look at situations revolving around sex. You’re more cautious again, and no longer hit on woman in the bar just because you can. But some boost of self-esteem still lingers. So you try to take advantage of it any way you know, and if you succeed, it’s back to Stage A for you.
Based on my observations, I say that sex boosts testosterone levels. But it definitely has to involve a woman, no negotiation. Using Miss Right [hand] does absolutely nothing in terms of these effects. Perhaps women’s natural body pheromones play a role. Also, I wonder if skin-to-skin contact has something to do with it, with the pheromones diffusing from a woman’s body and social-proofing the man. I found myself still getting these effects when doing “everything but that”. After all, 99% of sex involves nudity. It’d be interesting to try having sex fully clothed and see if the same stages happen.
