Christmas Shopping Mayhem Cure?

So ever since i worked two christmases in a row in retail, i’ve been toying with an idea (however unrealistic) that would help to calm the frantic masses during the chore that is christmas shopping. Ok, picture this… what if everyone had to work retail during the holiday seasons 2+ times in their youth, in order to fully understand the UNHOLY NIGHTMARE that is working around christmas? I feel like this would stop the angry mobs who try to lynch cashiers for having a line around the store, when it’s not their fault that their partner called in sick that day. It would cut down on the rude comments muttered or even yelled at employees who are doing their utmost to help you, even though they get paid $6 an hour for this living hell of busyness. It might even help people be a bit friendlier to their fellow shoppers, or better yet… maybe, JUST MAYBE, people would shop in advance for christmas, instead of mobbing the mall two days before St. Nick is coming down the chimney.
Now for a bit i thought about adding an addend to this rule, in order to serve the hardworking mail carriers during this time, but i eventually ruled that out. Sorry Tisha, but i just dont trust the average american with my packages around this time of year. I mean, skilled mail carriers end up making mistakes due to the sheer volume of packages coming through their processing centers… i shudder to think how many mis-sent packages would be criss-crossing the nation if we tried to get our youth working around now.

You mean something like a draft?

We don’t do gifts for christmas here, but we have another gift giving holiday and I buy in advance. I also have a stack of gifts ready for emergencies. When I’m in the city and see something that would be a nice gift, I buy it and put it in my gift drawer. I also buy things during the sales. Then in November, I look at what I have and get the other things I need. Saves a lot of stress, money and time.
