Cover scents and "flavors"

yeah, that’s what i heards, but i swear it’s coconut—something at all like grapefruit…Maybe a mix up in the mad scientists’ laboratory… either way I like it!

Well, “chocolatini” is not what you would consider a “traditional” chocolate scent, whereas the “chocolate cookie dessert” is…to me, the chocolate part of chocolatini is more of a background note…but I like it, nonetheless…

I totally agree with that, dolly. I just got my first chocolatini order today, and I definitely smell more of a vanilla/amaretto scent–and I adore it. I was worried about the strength from what people have said, but let it dry down for a few minutes and it’s perfect.

All I know is whatever my MX135 is scented with doesn’t agree with me. I used three sprays today, and I had to pretend I spilled my perfume because several people in my vicinity complained about how strong it was… one of them about five feet away.

I’m assuming Neroli is the most easily covered scent?

I think the neroli is very very light–at first it smells to me quite strong, almost gives me the feeling or impression that I am wearing a men’s cologne or a unisex perfume, but it fades very quickly to a nothing. It is easily covered, (if you want to cover it) with light, clean scented perfumes.

The chocolatini (which to me smells exactly like a chocolate martini when first applied, but then dries down to a very light, slightly sweet/nutty scent on my skin) is a little different. My best bets have been with vanilla or “foodie” scented perfumes. Two that I like are Hanae Mori (Complex vanilla/musk/oriental floral) and Comptoir Sud’s Matin Calin (think milk and sugar with dark undertones–maybe a dark musk?)

From what I’ve read, coconut seems to be pretty easily coverable along with neroli, so I’d imagine you have chocolatini. That’s really interesting, though, because I think Jas is in the habit of using about 3 sprays, and in the To Go bottle that should be perfectly acceptable for something so feminine. Maybe it just needs to dry down a little more?

Oh, my God, I had the exact same reaction. I opened the first package I received from Androtics and immediately got a whiff of neroli and panicked, because it smelled like men’s cologne and I hadn’t even opened the bubble wrap. There’s a panicked post from me on here from before I actually tried using the mixes, and once I sprayed it on and waited less than five minutes I realized I really liked it.

Alright guys, you got me - it is in fact chocolatini. Why it was registering as coconut to me, I have no idea. And it is also nice on drydown; the initial blast is terrible (to my nose).

Question though, do the pheros keep up this 4-6 foot projection once the scent dissipates? It’s probably just me becoming more acclimated to wearing the chocolatini but I don’t smell it at all about half an hour after application, and I figured it to be a waste if the projection shrinks back down to that of an unscented mix so quickly.

That’s funny, because my experience is exactly the opposite. I liked the way it smelled before I put it on, but then it gets a little bleagh. Maybe my body’s chemistry just reacts weirdly with it; I know that my favorite perfume (Donna Karan Black Cashmere) smells COMPLETELY different on me than it smells on my mom. Unfortunately for me, I like the way it smells on her better…

Aww, tragic! :frowning: Thank your body chemistry. Everybody’s will amp up or play down a frangrance (or individual notes in a fragrance) differently.

I’ve never smelled Black Cashmere before. What’s it like?

Here’s the long version:

*Created by Rodrigo Flores-Roux in 2003, Black Cashmere is a fragrance about the sensuality of incense. Interspersed with jewel-like vibrancy of spices, its warmth captivates and seduces.

Resinous incense tinged with charcoal darkness is a leitmotif of the composition. The intensity of the initial accord obscures the nuances and quite successfully conjures a vision of absolute darkness. Yet, just like when eyes begin to identify shapes of objects in the dark room, the olfactory veil begins to slip. At first, cardamom dispels the darkness with its shimmer. Then, the spice notes begin to undulate out of the balsamic richness more rapidly, revealing a lacy pattern of cinnamon and clove. *
*
As the composition develops, the resinous quality melts away, revealing a voluptuous base of woods. Incense provides a beautiful bridge from the peppery top to the sweet base notes. On the one hand, its dryness foils gently the warmth of pepper, and on another, the pine-like brightness of incense harmonizes with the creamy woods. Marked by a subtle rosy nuance, the base notes present a muted contrast to the glowing cinders effect of incense in the heart. While darkness still pervades the composition, it has a quality of a tender, yet passionate embrace. *
*
Notes include saffron, clove, rose, white pepper, Ethiopian incense, vanilla, amber, patchouli, African wenge wood.

Here’s the short version:

On my mom, the strong note is sandalwood, with the other notes kind of background texture to the scent. On me, the strong note is frankincense. I still like it on me, I just looove sandalwood.

Unless I’m feeling REALLY foxy, I don’t feel like I can get away with wearing it in the daytime because it’s so serious, but I love it for night. It goes well with retro smoky cat-eye liner and saucy heels. I found a “replica” perfume oil online for a lot less than BC retails for, so I’ll let you know how close it is when it arrives.

Other less serious scents that you can get away with during the day are L’Air du Temps by Nina Ricci and and Oscar by Oscar de la Renta, my two favorite designer scents. I’ve been fortunate enough to receive them as gifts because they’re expensive–but when you note the prestigiousness of the designers, that’s really not surprising.

ETA: This was my 100th post. I’m a loudmouth. :stuck_out_tongue:

I love Chanel Chance in the daytime, if I’m not wearing something by Demeter.

Hello Everyone…I know I’ve said this before, but are the unscented versions of pheromones not as good? I feel like a big stink bomb when I wear the scented pheromones with my perfumes. I am leaning more to the unscented versions, but don’t want to waste my money. I have used the unscented version of Scent of Eros and Cleo and don’t seem to get al ot of hits…but I have to say that everyone is nice and helpful when I wear the SOE and my usual perfume.
