I took a break from the single product testing, because I was going to be going into a situation where I needed a known and reliable mix. I went for a respect-heavy A314 based combo that included a -none kick and some Instant Honesty.
Today, the Machinists Union at Boeing had a vote on whether or not we were willing to strike this fall if we were given a shitty contract offer. We met at the Key Arena here in Seattle, former home of the Oklahoma-bound, piece of shit former Seattle SuperSonics, in the shadow of the Space Needle. I was late. At least, later than expected. Spent 4 hours in my car driving up and trying to find a place to park. I decided to take my gas sipper today, since I’d be driving further than usual, and boy was I regretting that! No A/C, and it was HOT!
When I got there and saw the tens of thousands of people in their blue union t-shirts, one thing became blatantly obvious to me, and it took some of the edge off of my smoldering road rage: We’ve got some FINE looking ladies building them there airplanes. Pardon me while I descend into testosterone-laden chodedom for a moment, but the asses swinging left-right-left walking up and down the sidewalks damned near brought a tear to my eye.
So I went to the polling place, cast my vote, and then hooked up with some people I knew for a couple of beers. Interactions were great! Had a few IOIs from some ladies who I might end up working with if I get transferred. Did a lot of chit-chatting, but I didn’t get any numbers. I could have, but it somehow felt inappropriate. I’m kicking myself for it now. Before I left, I decided to grab a Frap from Starbuck’s, and the barista was this real cute brunette, 22, who was a college student. She was asking me about how it was like working at Boeing, and she was curious about what we were doing today. We talked for about 5 minutes because the place was super busy, but it was a dense 5 minutes. I probably could have gone the number route there, too, but once again, I didn’t. I really need to work on my own LMR a little. I kept making excuses-- she lives in Seattle, I live 50 miles away, it would be impractical, etc., etc.
Even still, the day was fun, and I got home exhausted. I crashed on my bed and slept a good 4.5 hours. It’ll be back to the ol’ grind tomorrow, but road rage aside, today was a nice day and a nice diversion from the same old same old.
