I feel like Jekyll & Hyde sometimes. On the surface is a shy, self conscious 30 year old female, who cares too much what people think. Underneath is a roaring sex kitten, who once fixated on someone can seduce someone with their eyes before they knew what hit em. The problem is that the sex kitten is buried, and she only makes and appearance when i’m not feeling self-conscious and on edge.
I consider myself attractive, and i get looked at all day by men, but on rare occasion do they actually speak to me (it doesn’t help that i listen to my ipod & have on a serious face) ..and when they do speak, im so so worried about the right thing to say that i dont enjoy it. So i tend to avoid conversation, or keep the convo short & get the hell outta dodge.

Walked out my door, and i saw a neighbor that i see everyday, that NEVER says anything to me.. He says “good morning”, (i smirked to myself, like ok.. so far so good)
Walked to the train station.. I encounter 3 more good mornings & one have a good day.. Now to you guys im sure “good morning” might not be anything special, BUT i live in New York, and strangers seldom talk to each other unless its a necessity.

So then i go to Mcdonalds, sit and eat my chicken nuggets and lo & behold a cute Italian guy next to me starts talking to me,
asking me if i speak Italian. Im not sure why he asked.. Sidenote: I’m african american & i only took spanish in school, so im pretty sure that i dont give off an Italian vibe lol but i guess he figured he would take a chance.
Now im back at work… I work with devout Orthodox Jews, so im pretty sure that there will be no hits here lol

This attractive guy came into my morning smoothie place, and we made eye contact as he walked in, i looked away as usual So he comes up close to make his order with the cashier, looks me in the eye and waves..
The maintenance guy in my office building was CHEESING as i walked in..
I can so relate to your post about ppl saying “Good Morning”. I live in NYC as well, and ppl are very hard pressed to say anything, much less “Good Morning” to each other. Great job on the reporting.
