Experimone Testing Strategy

Over the next year I’m going to be testing the experimones & putatives as systematically as I can bring myself to

I made a mistake with the first putatives I ordered by getting them in different scents and at concentrations that seemed right based on other people’s reports.

Since my ultimate goal is not simply to understand the molecules on their own, but to create effective mixes, I now think that the best strategy for testing will be to:

  • Purchase each molecule at the same concentration, so that I can more easily work with ratios for mixes. I’m thinking straight up 2.5mcgs on everything – maybe 5? 10??
  • Purchase each molecule without any fragrance, so that I can freely layer them at any dosage level and select my own cover scent.

I’d love to get some feedback from more experienced testers.

Does this sound like a plan? Are there other considerations I should keep in mind?

same concentration
same cover scent
Steve’s sweet spot testing protocols
and the real kicker…wrap the bottles in tape so the labels are hidden dump them in a container and then pull them out one at a time and number them. Stick to one number for a week or so and test it blind recording your results. THEN uncover the label and see what experimone/putative you were using and compare it to other peoples reports on the product.
This should help eliminate any influence from reading other peoples reports and getting a placebo effect from having preconceived notions.

I’m not a tester or anything, but from my opinion, if you really want things to be as accurate as possible, go with 2.5 mcg concentration with everything. And purchase everything unscented is a good idea, but if you cover it doesn’t that still have an effect on the total results? I think so but I’m not sure.

10 but I would get it fragranced with the same scent.

If you want to do unfragranced you can obviously, but it is only recommended if you really know what you’re doing. Using a cover scent wont give accurate data vs using the fragrance we put into the custom made experimones. (Also a lot cheaper when it has the scent mixed into it we provide as a standard.)

Probably Neroli.

I definitely agree that blinded sweet-spot testing will be the way to go.

Interesting that you recommend 10mcgs. It makes sense since you get nice round numbers for ratios, plus when people make mixes at low mcg/spray, they usually end up reporting results at 3-4 sprays anyway.

I was thinking I might be able to talk AD into selling me a couple 30mL bottles of plain neroli scent at 6% so I could just use 1 or 2 sprays on top of whatever mones. That way I’d never end up with like 10 sprays of neroli.

Now I did notice that there’s a whopping extra charge listed for unscented, but not for the “unfragranced” fragrance strength. I guess I’ll have to give you guys a call to figure out the details.

Except P75-78 I would go with 2.5mcg/spray.

Then get the to-go bottles of 12.5mcg/spray and sweet spot test there.

It’s the most cost efficient way to test out putatives.

Actually there are putative test packs for the P-70’s and P-90’s (possibly a P-80’s pack in the future I’m told). All in the same cover scent and in 5mcg per spray doses.

I lost out on the P-70’s test pack maybe even twice unless after the first run out it hasn’t been restocked… I really like this option and hope to see it more

Sorry I don’t know what I was (th/dr)inking. 5mcg/spray is what I recommend if you are planning on doing some cross-tests.

You can easily get Neroli fragranced alcohol from us, but I still DO NOT recommend you getting unfragranced product unless you are a reporting user in good standing who knows what they are doing.

Choose Perfumer’s Alcohol /w Lightly Fragranced Neroli:

John I thought we told you to lay off the bottle for new years
