was that a google translate? google is what prompted me here. with them the prepositions and pronouns are all screwey. the minute they and babelfish translated capoeira as “poultry” I thought: “Time to ask a real person.” lol
Nope wasnt goggle translate and last time I checked I was quite real LOL
Edit to add, there are many words in the English language that do not exist in other languages which can sometimes make things unclear and not make sense but in this case they did use the word poultry in the song.
Chicken is Galinha. The use of the word in English as a replacement for coward can be confusing to people of other languages and not come across clearly. Actually they say English is really the hardest language to understand because of the many different ways the same word can be used in a sentence.
i’ve learned a couple of things here. one, google and babelfish aren’t nearly as innacurate as i thought. two, the songs aren’t lyrically as beautiful as they sound on the whole. and lastly THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your time on these Tisha!
Thats because they are more chants then they are songs. These are written for the art of Capoeira which is a combination of African dance and martial arts. So while the words have no logical meaning to us and seem to not make a lot of sense they do to those involved in that culture.
Not to compare it to other cultures but have you ever listened to rap music. Lots of times unless your part of that culture whats being said makes no sense in traditional English. However within that culture it makes perfect sense to those who can speak the dialect.
