I had my first experience with I/O today. As things happened throughout the day I wrote them down in my iphone . I posted it below:
My apologies. This is long winded, and all over the place. I’m still learning how to write these reports!
Instant Openness 4:45 AM
1 Spray to each wrist.
1 Spray to center of neck. ( I wanted to feel it too)
I’m not sure what scent it was. But I didn’t really like it much. I’m not used to sharp smells, as I usually wear soft sensual and deep scents that are not overbearing.
Environment: Work, Office.
Side effect: Didn’t feel much of anything immediately after spraying.
Dressed in work attire. Professional. Clean Blacks and greys. Suit and blazer, Polished shoes.
I thought nothing else of it and went inside. Immediately upon entering a different man came up to me and started talking to me. He started asking me random questions about things he knew interested me. Another man from a different section was passing through to drop some paperwork off, and he stopped right next to me and joined in. (I’m standing here in disbelief, probably with a goofy smile on my face) I noticed that I reacted in an abnormal way, and began to relax, laugh, and be more a part of the conversation. They were both so frikkin chatty - I swear it was like chickens clucking- that I stood through the last half of the conversation with a closed mouth, watching them both chatter. After about five minutes of being “talked to” I politely went into my office, expecting to go to my desk alone and start my work. Mr Chatty #1 followed me in and kept talking. Standing by my desk and chatting about the people in the building. He was inside my pheromone bubble and I kept thinking “This can’t be good, How can i get him out of my bubble without being rude…”
There wasn’t any awareness of my personal boundary circle from others.. all day. They step closer and talk faster. Remember , I’m intimidating and incredibly hard to approach. The most I would usually get from others is a “Good Morning” while they hurry past me.
Our boss walked in and Mr. Chatty immediately closed his mouth and left.
Only 15 minutes into my day and already feeling slightly overwhelmed. I took a deep breath, and started working.
I thought perhaps if I stayed sitting at my desk , keeping my happy bubble to myself for a while that I might be able to get some work done ! Well that wasn’t the case. It affected everyone in the room. Men and women.
One immediate coworker in my office asked me to his desk several times, asking me questions about documents. This normally happens a lot between everyone in this particular room, as we require constant communication, updates, and planning as we work on our projects. But the frequency was intense and the energy was scewed. The questions were kind of silly. I made sure to stand close to him but not so close as to seem unusual. Some of the questions he asked me made me think: “What is going on with him, Is he not fully awake yet or something?” He was even asking simple things like our program functions which I know we all are expert users with. At one point I knew something was going on with him because he leaned over in his chair slightly, looked down and away and kept mumbling in the middle of his sentences, loosing track of where he was going but talking fast and blinking. He almost looked confused and perhaps a little flustered. He is normally a very intense, Intelligent, serious, reserved and charismatic man who holds the energy of a room. I was standing about 1 foot from him so I was absolutely positive he was eating up my joy bubble.
He seems satisfied and thanks me, signaling that he doesn’t require my presence anymore. I walk back to my desk thinking “If I were in his shoes I would be confused as F*&^ and feel like my questions weren’t answered.”
I’m beginning to notice a theme . Nervous Chatter. Fidgeting , smiling goofiness. Almost like a shy little boy holding hands with a pretty girl for the first time. (Update- I believe this is because people around me were adjusting to my new signature)
About an hour later I had a question about something he worked on previously, which was open on my computer monitor. I called him to my desk to come look at it, and asked for confirmation regarding said document. He came over to my desk very quickly and stood close to me. He had a bit of a pained looked on his face. I was asking him very simple questions that didnt require a whole lot of explanation. Perhaps a yes, or a short “no, because- ya da ya da…” would suffice.
His answer was all over the place , broken down into incomplete sentences. Between bursts of speed talking he would abruptly pause, hold his brow with his fingers similar to the “thinking” gesture, and would appear to lose track of where he was going with his answer. He repeated his answer several times as if he didn’t notice that he answered it already. I could tell he was feeling confused and flustered. Not because the question. I almost started to laugh, but kept my composure and politely thanked him. He awkwardly walked back to his desk .
Did I apply too much? I was beginning to feel bad for them!
I continued working. Suddenly I noticed that my coworkers (about 8 feet away in a closed space) were incredibly chatty. They discussed a variety of things and didn’t get much work done aside from discussions. the AMOUNT of chattiness was just crazy!!! I expected our boss to walk in and bellow “Get back to work!” but he didn’t. He just smiled, said good-morning and strutted out of the room. What the heck! I didn’t expect such dramatic results.
I think this is the “ask stupid questions” spray. It happened so much today.
After a few hours, I notice that I couldn’t smell the spray anymore. So I went to the locker room and sprayed more I/O to my wrists. (One on each wrist). Hey, in the least, this spray is making for an entertaining day!
After coughing and sneezing I quickly exited the locker room and stepped outside the building to let the spray dry and settle. I’m standing outside and three workers from a separate building down the block came up to me. They asked me questions like “Taking a break?” and “What section do you work in?” and “What’s it like to work with so and so?” A LOT of small talk. They started talking about shoes, weight training equipment, Mac nuts, fishing, guns, and other small random things. I excuse myself as politely as I can and they immediately scattered in separate directions.
Is it really possible for this spray to work so instantly?
( Hey.. Now I’m the one asking stupid questions- It IS called INSTANT openness, right??..)
I can understand with my immediate coworkers, as they were being saturated by my stinky bubble for long periods. But those three workers walked towards me as if they planned to come talk to me. Very strange. Especially since everyone is so afraid to chat with me.
Heading back inside. I didn’t make it through the doors before Mr. Chatty runs up next to me, does a dorky little dance while snapping his fingers, taps my arm and smiles, then says: “Heyyy” (think of the Fons…lol ugh )
Very VERY weird day today..lol
So we are in a vehicle together. The group dynamics are dramatically different. There was so much laughter and talking that you’d swear we were drunk. One worker even snork-laughed. I could tell that one of the workers was getting hit very hard, as he was talking so fast that I wondered if he could even breathe! Which of course made me laugh so hard and they started laughing even though they didn’t know what I was laughing about.. and it just kept going till our sides hurt.
Oh. My. Gosh.
I did notice the spray effecting my behavior. I didn’t seem to have the usual rigid, upright walk that I usually have. I was more laid back, happy and responded very quickly to any comments sent my way. I’m usually slow to respond as I think about what I say carefully before speaking. Today was different. I said whatever was on my mind, and it seemed to work people up in a good way .
I am not sure if perhaps I need to use a lower dose, or no I/O at work anymore. That was one WILD ride!
