Hear, hear. It’s just not right that such a Beacon of Wisdom, Light of Male Emotional Rationality, Guru of Social Interpretation and just plain Playa be without fun - damental supplies. ![]()
Awww dude, ya didn’t have to do that. I wasn’t like dropping hints or anything like that. It’s just with all the talk lately about people having RU status and not deserving it I was worried about a lack of reports possibly costing me.
I swear you guys are the best.
ok I just checked my email.
This may sound totally out of left field, but I’m thinking it’s time for me to start screening some of the ladies I date for serious marriage material qualities and get my mom off my back about her wanting grandkids while she’s still young enough to enjoy them.
And I will be naming one of the boys Steve…thank you and good night.
Does this mean you’re breaking up with me . . . ![]()

omfg. nnnoooooooooooooo . o . oh. chokes
ok so like I said until now I’ve always gone for very hard lines and a lot glass, chrome, black and white stuff. But I’m wanting to make things a little warmer and more welcoming while still remaining true to my own sense of style.
Going by Astrea and Tisha’s advice it seems curves and warmer earth tones are the way to go so I’d like the ladies input on some stuff I saw yesterday.
sofa set

Now I’m pretty sold on the sofa set but there are three coffee table/end table sets I was looking at
Candidate one which is the one actually pictured with the sofa set

Number two

and number three

Now the thing about number three is it kinda matches the table for one of the two casual dining sets I’m considering

and option 2

Opinions and input based on these ladies?
Rad if you ever run low, you lemme know.
You’ve always helped out and given genuine advice to both myself and other noobs out there.
I like the style of the tables, but glass has to be cleaned every time it’s used or it looks disgusting – wood, or at least frosted glass, can survive the length of a party or a dinner.
The couches – make sure it’s comfortable to lie down on and lean into the corner. The arms don’t look nice for a head rest, and if you’re leaning into the corner for the length of a movie with a gal leaning on you, you will want it to be comfy. ![]()
Good points all around, thanks.
I agree with ScienceStudent. The living room set Model 982T/BR.. I like it; if you look closely the arms look to be padded leather? That’s going to be soft
. Make a concession to Interior Decorating and get only a couple of cushions for the couch, sized and softness for corner leaning.
I like the coffee table, but with so much black, I would go with a lighter ‘wood’ base, just to keep the whole room light in atmosphere. That’s big furniture with lots of black, and black around the floor. You don’t want it to feel like you’re losing light / creating a ‘dark space’ since you’ll be working with shadows as well.
With this sofa set, because you’ve got those big curves; I like 2106C the best, and a lighter base to lighten the tone of the room. Imagine a Sam Fuller painting or two on the walls as well - nice comfy and neutral with spots of high color on the walls will open up the room and make it look bigger - another to go with a light colored base on the coffee table. The coffee tables that I like the least are 288C - way too fussy in shape and construction. The shapes on 2106C reflect the profile of the sofa set enough to create a visual swirl effect - I mean that the eye is led around the furniture (therefore the room) by the curving lines.
I like the black and white dining set best. The chairs are padded and will give the effect of luxe. The wooden one, take it from me, those chairs are uncomfortable, there will be no lingering over wine and cheese. The base of the table is just atrociously fussy and doesn’t give any continuity with the shapes of the chairs. Which are uncomfortable.
The white chairs are comfortable enough, they’re padded so it’s going to be a better thing to sit in them for more than a bowl of cereal. The base of that table is dynamic and a way better match for the lines you have working in the living room. If you do this black and white ensemble; just make sure to get an interesting colored glass fruit bowl for decoration to break up the black and white - cos I know you’re not gonna get fresh flowers.
And put something on those walls too, artwise - did you get a look at Don Simpson?
See if you can get a surface treatment for he glass that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to improve surface texture for easier cleaning. Remembering methylated alcohol, hot water and newspaper are the best glass cleaners - ever!
That’s a basic view from me, not a lot of detail, I know. Please make sure to pick a good rug for the living room - the one in front of the sofa is horrid.
I hated the rug too but it was the only available pic for the sofa’s.
Oh good! Had me scared for a minute. For a rug, take it outside the box for effect. I’m thinking like a rusty red, with shades of ochre. LARGE pattern to complement the lines of the furniture. Or if there’s hardwood, leaving it alone is an option. Not a warm one though. Since I’m supposed to be buying maternity clothes, I need to make sure that an artificially weighted person, can get out of those chairs . . . ![]()

DON’T buy furniture without sitting in it! Plan for at least 30 minutes in each piece/position. Don’t buy a “set” just because it “matches.” Sometimes a chair will be comfortable, but the couch will be horrid, or the dining chairs are nice, but you hit your knees on the table. In fact, it will look more like YOU if you buy complementary pieces that DON’T “match.”
Instead of flowers, you can keep colorful fruit (that you will eat) in a nice bowl on the table. Or a low-maintenance potted plant like a fern. Also, every home needs a bookcase with books that you actually have or will read; some reference books or hobby books, etc.
Girl, all he’s gonna have in that bookshelf is a bunch of PUA and a couple of intellectually devastating novels. Why take space away from the paintings? Mismatched? Please, he’s a guy. Not an eclectic, avant garde hipster . . . ![]()
OMG!!! Radman!?! are you a . . . . whispers hipster??? ![]()
![]()
There will be no maternity clothes with a hipster. ![]()
kidding about the bookshelf . . . there’s gotta be something wrong with you. ![]()
I said a bookshelf. I did not say how large or how full. But nothing says “this is a home” like something personal. Matched furniture and art as the only decoration says “Hotel.”
Whew I was gonna say…Girl you dont know Rad very well then LOL. He would have a lot more interesting stuff on his bookshelf then PUA books. People can overdo with art and come across as pretentious. You want enough art to compliment the room and who you are but you dont want it to look like a cold gallery. Having a book shelf even a small one adds personality. You dont have to fill it. He can have a handful of books and use the rest of the space for other types of art pieces. Plus I am a big fan of books so any house without one shelf for them is not complete. ![]()
I love the sofa and chairs. I like the 63c tables. They have enough rounded accents. The other ones are a bit to busy. I like that they are glass so it opens the area and gives the illusion of more space. If you accent with a lighter carpet or flooring it will pull the light up through the table and the contrast between light and dark will balance nicely.
I like the black and white dining set as well. Men usually dont do flowers. Maybe its just me but when a guy lives alone and has fresh cut flowers on his table he is either gay, is a mama’s boy or has a secret women. I agree with the colored bowl with something in it.
Plants are important for more then just the look of the room. They help cleanse your aura and combat negativity. However if you do not plan to take care of them skip them. Nothing worse for a environment then a wilted half dead neglected plant.
Tisha
I own and have read books on martial arts, history (mostly military), dystopian fiction like Huxley, Heinlen, Rand, and Orwell, fitness and sports, various science books, art and music books, greek philosophy (Ayn Rand turned me on to Aristotle) Religion (Everything from Catholicism to Wicca) and political commentary. I never liked feeling out of the loop when a conversation would occur…ever since I was a kid. Whenever I’d be part of a conversation and I felt lost I would go to the library as soon as I could and check out several books on the subject, later I started buying them. At least to know enough so that if the conversation ever came up again I could participate and not sound like an idiot.
Dunno if that makes me a hipster but you’re still picking out maternity clothes ![]()
Rad, just lemme know what you buy with the model numbers and the website, when I get a new place I’m just gonna bite off of you lol
I happen to like matched furniture and art as the only decoration.
It says ‘chic, considered and organised’ to me. I don’t like mags or dust collectors clogging up clean lines. The furniture is a signature and the art is the flourish - to me.
