For the record: I moved to America with one suitcase in hand, max weight allowance that held ALL of my clothes.
I shipped 8 book boxes to meet me later;
7 packed with books (the ones I really couldn’t live without) and
1 with most of my tools.
I left behind my large hammers - the boxes weren’t thick enough to keep them in. And the items that customs could easily call weapons. And a couple of weapons.
I also gave away about 60% of my books which was approx 200+ to my best friend. Topix included the bold highlights. My childhood guilty secret is that I shoplifted books for a year because the library couldn’t keep up with the speed I was digesting their recommendations.
I know what a bookcase says about a person. I was kidding (called winding him up; bonus points for not biting! ) - and Rad; one of my conceptual faves is Stranger In A Strange Land! Kids in Oz are subjected to all the historical wars England and Oz were involved in to 1066. Ancient History is compulsory and covers both wars and civilisations and what wars did to the geo political standing post conflict. A bf with a military bug filled in the rest - to Sulieman the Magnificent and beyond. No, it doesn’t make you a hipster. But you’ll have to pay for the damn maternity stuff.
PS 3 books that totally freaked me out conceptually: The Thief of Always; 1984; Clockwork Orange - this one was compulsory reading in grade 8.
Some cool stuff huh? It’s tricky to do this. I find myself thinking “OK I want something that’s cool, but not so metrosexual that a house guest would question my sexuality. Something masculine with a fun side but doesn’t make me seem like a frat boy half my age”
As I shop around, I’m actually writing a chapter for my program based on “avatar” or basically anything that affects peoples impression of you.
Your home, your wardrobe and fashion, even your social networking pages. Learning quite a bit thanks to the ladies input here.
It was. They made us watch the original Stanly Kubrik movie as well. A bunch of us had nightmares for a couple of days after that . . . Ultra-violence.
Greens on the side of blue eg deep sea green, emerald green and the color of basil.
Blues, proper blues. Ultramarine, cobalt, sky.
Pinks the stronger the better.
Red, proper ones no vermillion.
Pastels wash me out; and no yellow around the face - makes me look ILL.
Thanx for asking. Oh, I’m only 5’ 5" so no long skirts or they’ll be dragging on the ground.
BTW it’s just about guaranteed: your mother’s gonna hate me.
Good, so glad it won’t be a problem for you. These will be the first skirts in my wardrobe since . . . . graduation. That was the last time I wore a skirt. A beautiful original emerald green shantung silk and black pig skin suede dress with 6 metres of skirt.
We were tossing about innuendos and single entendre (sorry, Oz joke) and all of a sudden I’m picking out maternity clothes. The sofa happened somewhere in between . . . .
Never thought you would. But if he does follow you out the door; just make sure the alimony, child support and the kids education trust fund are fed and I’m all good. Ta.
You can have whoever you like over to help watch what is gonna be an extremely devious, dangerously inquisitive and charming (charm is his fault) monster. I will even provide the sedatives. You and the gang can take them or feed them to the kid. Your choice.
I don’t eat honey, BUT up here we have all sorts of ‘naturally’ flavored honeys - what are your preferences and I’ll make sure you have what you like. Jar and straws. If it’s not in the kitchen, whipping cream to be found in the bedroom fridge - please don’t ‘put the Chocolate Indulgence away’ in the fridge. Topical applications need to be room temp. Thanx!
Not especially, being half Mexican there’s a tradition of saddling every kid with like 30 middle names in order to appease every aunt and uncle in the family tree…I’m not to crazy about that.
How you figure moms gonna hate you?
