Greetings phero-people!! :)

First, let me say that I’m very excited about finding this site. For a few years now, I’ve been studying(like a hobby) microexpressions and non-verbal communication between people and while I couldn’t call myself an expert, I am very good at reading emotions, feelings and opinions based on observing movements and expressions of individuals. Last few months I started to realize that there is something missing in the whole concept of the “two-dimension communication” doctrine. During my observations of people working with me (yes I use my workplace as a semi-controlled environment for my benign social experiments ) i noticed exceptions in behavior rules on which I didn’t pay much attention to until I discovered a pattern in their occurrence. In example, a female collage of mine really doesn’t like my male collage and she doesn’t even talk to him much, and the way her face looks when he walks by spells contempt like a neon sign and that face expression didn’t change for as long as she works there (about 6-7 months). So one day after his morning jogging he didn’t have time to shower cause he was late, and he came in his jogging clothes to work planning on showering there I think, and I remember I noticed how sweaty he was and that he was going in an elevator with..her. I expected to see a disgust expression on her face when she stood by him in so small a space, but instead, her face showed surprise and after couple more seconds..clearly as day..LUST. There was no denying it, cause lust can be easily recognized from miles away.

As you imagine, that got me thinking…9 out of 10 times contempt will rise to disgust in a situation like that. The remaining 1/10 will remain at contempt. So this was very unusual and puzzling. I started to pay more attention to situations similar to one described above and I found more and more of this discrepancies. Could it be that I’m missing some non-verbal behavior component which alters our customized attitude about people we know? But to that extent in mere seconds ? Body language doesn’t work that way, and neither do microexpressions. Is it possible that there is something big I overlooked, like a third dimension of communication we were all been missing, not only sound and body language, but something.. biological?

I spent some time surfing the net searching for terms like “biological forms of communication in humans”, and the word “Pheromones” came out a lot. Naturally, I knew what they are but I didn’t honestly think that we humans can be sensitive to those after so many years of ..well..evolution and soap . I found this site shortly after googling word “Pheromones” and the instant I saw the site I knew I was in right place. I know now that I need to upgrade my social experiments and I can’t wait to begin . I want to know everything about everything here, starting with “James Bond” effect and stuff that works well on caucasian women, cause here, in Croatia, we don’t have much other races sadly :frowning:.

So, this is my Hello! post, I’ll keep on reading and learning 'till I have some more concrete and specific questions. Thanks in advance to all of you for this great site and your help with my research.  Over and out.

Hi and welcome, Pherocious.

I see you have a scientific mind and like to observe human beahaviour, so you are going to love this place.

Let forum users know something more about you, what are your objetcives with pheromones and where are you planning to use them, so they can give you more accurate advice. You´ll also get a gift certificate for your forst purchase.

In my opinion, you can´t really grab what´s going on with mones until you test them, so go for it. Read a little bit more, choose yours, and use your gift certificate for your first purchase.

I would also suggest to keep a journal here, so you can share your experiences with other users and also keep track of your pheromone usage and the hits you get with different products.

I hope this helps.

Talk to you soon.

Welcome to the forum, Pherocious! I’m glad you found this place, and from the experiences people have had here, it seems clear that there is a biological dimension to human communication of which most of us are unaware. Your study of microexpressions and communication seems fascinating. I have read about microexpressions and wanted to practice detecting them as well, but have not yet had the time. Are you familiar with the Facial Action Coding System by Paul Ekman?

So, now that you’re here, are you planning on getting any pheromone products to try out yourself? Are you looking for something specific? Increased attraction, respect, easier socialization? I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks, a lot man! I think I’ll do just that!

Hello Vespero! Yes, FACS by Ekman is the Bible for all “face readers” out there, along with his “Telling Lies” and others . He is the only significant master of that field imho. About practicing the detection of microexpressions, I found that the best way to start is to force yourself to pay more attention to people’s expressions (not micro)in general and try to understand what they mean. I’t doesn’t cost you anything but effort invested. In time you’ll simply become aware of them without thinking “I need to pay more attention”. Microexpressions come after you’ve mastered general expressions .

What I want is attraction and that “wow, who is that guy” effect. Is something like that out there?

Question..

Three guys are standing close to each other at the bar. Only one is using say A314. A girl walks in and goes to the bar to order a drink. While waiting for a drink she “senses” something and turns to check out the guys. How will she know which one is the “right” one?

Welcome to pherotalk Pherocious!

I think you will be a great asset to us here at pherotalk and you seem to have that eagle eye.

I am sure life is much more interesting with you being so observant.

Your gc was issued!

Man! - is this dude observant or what?

I can appreciate your sense of sensitivity to your surroundings and understand your little ‘experiments’ that you carry out in the workplace, as I often used to do the same things in school.

Have you tried to use variables at all? See how she reacts to different things like, COLOR, or rudeness vs. politeness. Create certain scenarios/problems around the office and see how she responds, it’ll clue you in to what kind of person she is. Although women in general seem to be attracted to tall and assertive men who can take care of them.
