I have observed that my bottles and to-go vials are going down much more quicker than they should, and I’ll definitely blame it on the dryness of the region (average humidity is 23% at noon). About 20 days of 2 sprays per day for instant openness, and it is already half way empty: meaning Ill only get like 100 sprays instead of 200 (cap is tight). Same thing for to-gos, they last about 25 sprays only.
The problem is that evaporation affect everyone: hot summer for dry places, and cold winter with the house heater to the max for normal/humide places.
I try to do something and found a few TIPS and SOLUTIONS to get the most of your products:
Use scrotch tape to seal to-go bottles under the atomizer part (some of them come already sealed, but most don’t)
Keep the bottle in smaller space, the box that comes with is good, the warp is even better if u don’t use them for a while.
You can store the bottle in the bathroom since there won’t be that much evaporation when it is more humid.
*]BEST WAY for me: get a wet but not soaked napkin and put it in the cardbox that all the bottles are, change it once everyday or two. It will keep the inside of the box humid enough to reduce the lost of the products.
Anything that anyone want to add that might help?
I keep mine in a lockbox in my basement in a climate controlled room at 68 degrees F (20 degrees C). I guess I am lucky that the humidity is at a constant 60% year round in that room. However…if its in a bathroom where you keep it I would suggest putting them in a cabinet away from the shower…you don’t want pheros sweating out of them to-go bottles. I also have found the smaller, darker, and cooler a place is the less likely evaporation is to happen. I would definitely go with the napkin idea in dry areas like Arizona and the like where evaporation could become a problem. I could also suggest putting your pheros in a airtight container such as tupperware and leaving it in the kitchen cabinet or under your bed (make sure mom knows where her tupperware is going first) Good luck with it
I went to Bed and Bath, and bought a metal air tight food storage container. They are inexpensive and come in many sizes. I keep most my pheromones in there in a cool dark place in my closet and I never have had any evaporation problems.
Incidently I didnt buy the container for this reason I bought it to store my EOW which smells rancid with the bottle closed but it has worked out great for all my products.
Thx Tama and Tisha for the great advice, running to a store to get some good container and throwing away that cardbox soon!
Gotta still keep doing that then! lol
Genesis, how cold is it at your house or wherever u put your bottles? I don’t think it will affect the product if the temperature is higher than 32F.
But thats just my opinion.
Asked about this today when on phone with SteveO. They wont freeze of course because there is alcohol in the mix. The mones should be fine if they get cold. Its just extreme heat you need to watch out for.
Can they be kept in an airtight container inside a fridge? I live in Australia where temperatures and humidity (specially now in Summer) can be quite intense. I am used to keeping my camera film in the fridge, so it would not bother me having it there. Could this be an alternative to those mentioned above?
mones should actually be stored at about 65-75 degrees. Although extreme temperature shouldn’t do much it isn’t really known if it will or won’t.
I wouldn’t risk it in the fridge, but I’ve though about it.
When in the summer I used to bring mine in the Jeep with me. I’d keep them in a tupperware like container with a wet rag. They always stayed cooler. I learned that from a good friend.
