I’m a single, Caucasian, male, late 30’s, divorced, one child, from the north western united states. I love to talk, but I’m reserved around new people. I’m not overly emotional and not very aggressive, but I tend to be irritated easily. You’ll see why I mention that later.
I’ve been looking into pheromones for a few years but I just wasn’t sure if there was anything to it, based on various marketing campaigns. I was searching for some real reviews of pheromone products and found PheroTalk. The posts were interesting and I decided to try a few of the To Go sprays from Androtics Direct. The inexpensive trial sizes seemed like a good way to finally satisfy my curiosity.
I decided to order a variety of To Go travel sized bottles: Instant Shine , Instant Openness, Turn Up the Heat, Ammunition, and the A314 Trust & Respect Pheromone. I ordered enough to qualify for what I thought was free ground shipping, but the order was shipped overnight.
The order didn’t arrive on the day that the FedEx tracking page had estimated. It said that my address didn’t exist. I looked at my email order confirmations and I found that I had miss-typed my own address. I called Androtics and they corrected it in their system and updated it with FedEx. I called FedEx and decided drive to the holding location and pick it up rather than wait until the next day.
It was odd when the clerk at FedEx asked what A P R was. I knew from the email order notices where it was shipping from so I just said it was a company in California. They gave me the shipment in a white FedEx envelope with a return address of A P R 9663 Santa Monica Blvd, Beverly Hills CA 90210. This is nice because when you look it up you’ll find multiple businesses related to the film industry. Maybe that’s why the clerk inquired. The order was filled accurately, and they included a free trial size of Instant Jerk.
The spray bottles are plastic so they are nearly unbreakable, but they were also covered in bubble wrap. That’s why I was puzzled when I opened the package and found that the little bottles were wet. Upon further inspection at least two of the pump spray tops were not screwed on tight and it appeared that about a fourth of the liquid had leaked out. The bubble wrap smelled nice.
I was in a bad mood the day before and was feeling better when I drove to pick up the order. The first one I tried was Instant Shine. On my drive home after about 15 minutes I was smiling. I don’t smile often unless something funny is happening. After about 30 minutes I felt like I was about to start giggling for no reason. Strange but pleasant.
I have since tried some of the others. Mostly A314 and Instant Shine. That combination makes me feel calm, confident, motivated, and happy all at the same time. The only downside is that I feel a bit spacey with a foggy tiredness after many hours. Perhaps its is partly because I’m busy doing and accomplishing more than normal.
Here are a few highlights:
At work people are calm and listening more. I noticed that a shy female coworker is more attentive with much more eye contact. A reserved gay coworker is lingering around and talking more than usual with a more pleasant attitude.
At home my kid is more calm, but can’t stop climbing on me, and has a dreamy look in his eye with a goofy happy grin.
At stores males are more polite, and females are more helpful walking me to the right isle and standing around explaining about things I didn’t even ask about.
At the strip club some of the dancers were lingering around me at the bar and chatting more than would be typical. One was becoming annoying and I actually tried to get creepy with her. I started talking about things like ruffies and to be careful or she might wake up in van down by the river. None of this phased her and she kept on chatting until they finally called her to the stage.
I tried the free sample of Instant Jerk by itself. This was a bad idea and I don’t recommend it if you have any anger issues. As I mentioned I get irritated easily and I found that I was getting really angry almost to the point of being fighting mad. I guess I’ve got enough natural jerk in me that I don’t need to enhance it.
The implications of these experiences are simply staggering. I always had the idea that pheromones were possibly related to mating. There is so much more going on. The extent of social signaling or hidden scent communication is just mind boggle. The mood effects, positive and negative, are unbelievable.
